Singapore – Frankfurt – New York JFK 27DEC12 – 24MAR13 Boeing 777-300ER replaces Airbus A380
Singapore – Hong Kong – San Francisco 28DEC12 – 24MAR13 Airbus A380 replaces Boeing 777-300ER on daily basis.
Changes are seasonal. This also includes Second Daily A380 to NRT from 28DEC12 to 24MAR13.
This is an interesting change. Even if they say changes are seasonal I can't help thinking it's going to be permanent. It also shows SQ25/26 aren't that full even on the SIN-FRA sector.

Good to see SQ 1/2 getting the A380. Besides Chinese NY, kind of odd to start it during the Winter Schedule. If it holds its own, I can see it being extended into S13.

Whoaa!!! You hit the big time. I can't say I'm unlucky - given that I had my MEL-SIN flight bumped up to the A380 as well - but I sure do wish they had chosen the SFO-ICN-SIN flights to upgrade (which I'll be taking en-route to SYD), rather than the HKG. Haha.

I got lucky. I booked seats right after I was ticketed (prior to the change). Mrs. Ariyo15 and I were in 1C/D, but because the A388 doesn't have seats 1C/D, my seats were changed to 3C/D. Funny, because their site still shows 77W, but we all know that's not true!!!

Seems SQ2 is still showing as 777W in January. I have CX F booked BKK-HKG-LAX, but thinking of transferring all my Amex MR to Krisflyer and booking SQ2 SIN-SFO. It would let us extend our trip a few days and let us get to spend NEw Years in Singapore. Seems there are some disadvantages though: high fuel charge (~$700 for 2), miles may not transfer before SQ updates to A380, and SQ may not keep 777W O class tickets in the R class suites. Would hate to transfer over all my MR points and not be able to get the A380 suite. This is the return trip for my honeymoon though so having that double bed suite would be awesome. Thoughts? I know that if I want to do this I need to transfer over those MR points ASAP

Your asking for amex referral points for use toward your honeymoon.
So why are you not using those points toward SQ?
The suite isnt worth $350pp? You can easily spend that on some pathetic US domestic route.
Come on. Give us a break. When are you going to get a chance at the SQ suite again?
I've decided to go for it. I'll send you pictures later so you can see what it would have been like ;)

Any chance that the SFO-HKG-SIN service will remain A380 into April of '13? I am currently booked in F SFO-HKG on an award ticket. Would obviously be ecstatic if I got to fly suites instead of 77W! Route change shows through March. It will depend on how demand is through the temporary change period. There is no telling what SQ is going to do.

I take it to mean that with the season SFO route change they will now have two routes providing daily HKG daily service instead of one.

Yes it looks like the system has been updated. Now seeing A380 listed for the flight in January I was looking at. However it still looks like the suites class is bookable at the saver level for the same number of miles as first on the 77W (although the fuel surcharges seem to have increased).

The whole process of changing the equipment is really buggy on the SQ site. Considering the past performance of their IT people, I wouldn't expect any fixes soon. Rather, I suggest we wait a few days or more to see what the final version looks like before we jump to any conclusions.

on a sidenote, with sq working so hard & overtime on changing 77W to 388, it is prudent to assign 388 to SFO & 77W to JFK permanently, saving valuable manhours & lost revenue in the form of diverted bookings to other airlines during this period.

The bad news is that this change in and of itself might mean nothing. I received a notification of a schedule change for a period outside of the A380 window. And indeed there has been a change of about an hour in a flight time...sorry, I can't remember which.
BUT the good, more important news is that my and my wife's SQ2 in February now show the 380 and the correct 380 seats on the SQ site.
Earlier February SQ1 on the SQ site still listed as a 777. But with SQ2 having changed, I suspect and hope that SQ1 won't be far behind.
On balance, this is all very encouraging.

You know you're being spoiled when not only do you get moved to the aircraft with suites, but also when you're biggest debate is to travel in 1A/F or together in the C/D combo suite. Or just try both options out for the flights...

Yes, definitely a First World problem. I'm leaning toward keeping the middle seats both ways because the idea of a private cabin for the two of us is so appealing and romantic. But OTOH even with the single cabins we can drink and dine together, and it would be a bit easier for one of us to sleep if the other wants to watch a movie, and I love having window access even if it's dark out. Life is tough.
And yes, thank you Singapore Airlines.

My flights do not show the row 4 option, but I understand where OP is coming from because there are two configs of the A380 for SQ on seatguru.
That's the other debate. You have the shared togetherness which is awesome especially since the combined suites would have a larger feel to them. But if one person's sleep cycle is going to be different, then is there an easy way to have one person in the bed mode and the other not? Can the privacy screen be raised or lowered in case someone does not wish to use an eye mask? And if one person wishes to have a window view of an area during the flight...
These are petty concerns but still valid if it makes a difference to someone's comfort.
The priviledge also lies in that most people do not get to make these debates and decisions. This is definitely not taken for granted on my end.
SQ1 and SQ2 both confirmed A380.
Web was at times showing erroneous SQ6001 which is not a valid number.
Where that being changed to SQ3 comment came from is narcosis.

Since I booked this with SQ miles, nowhere on the website or checkmytrip am I able to see the code being "R", it just says "First". 1. You never, ever, ever call the host and ask if you can come in the back door. Never, ever, ever, ever.
2. Read number one.
3. If you have a hard time understanding number one, then dont get involved in miles and points.
4. READ, READ, READ. If there's hundreds of pages on a topic, well then you just have to READ more dont you.
5. AFTER you have READ everything, use PM to ask those with knowledge in the threads about sensitive information. If for some reason you don't know what PM means, its PRIVATE MESSAGING someone.
6. If after following steps one through six you still "don't get it", then stay off FT and elsewhere because you are only killing opportunities for those who do "get it".

Yes, there is a partition. They have to lower it to make it into a double bed, so no worries.
However, if you want, you can still share some time with your mom and have even more privacy by each booking a window seat. The jump seat/foot rest seems big enough that one of you can sit on it to drink, dine and chat with the other one. You might confirm this with SQ, but I'm almost certain it's set up for that.

When is the schedule for spring 13 announced?
We're probably several months away from anything being announced for the spring. I'd guess somewhere in the mid-November to early-January time frame. I've got my fingers crossed for an extension of the A380, as I've got an award in early April.

I'm hoping that since they announced July 24 for the first quarter, maybe October 24 for the second?

Well, I got a change notice for my June flight
on sq1. Five minute schedule change, still 777. Does that mean the A380 is done on this route for now?

Things could change of course, but likely no A380 during your summer plans. This is a winter schedule change ending in March. Back to the 777 after.
Depending upon success, they may swap out again but I wouldnt get your hopes up for it being for summer 2013.

was bummed about not getting the 380 ex-SFO, but now that R is available for saver redemptions I'll just take SQ25 ;)
