Chase Ultimate Rewards - Denied credit with Chase in the past 6 months

I'd like to apply for the Ink Bold. About 4 months ago, I applied for the Sapphire & Southwest on the same day, received instant approval for the sapphire and got denied for the Southwest.

My credit score is about 750 and I'd like the Ink Bold. There is a checkbox that you're supposed to check if you've been denied credit w/ Chase in the past 6 months...how will this affect my app?

Cheers

Likely to review reasons why they denied you previously, and see if those reasons still apply

I have gotten two cards despite a denial w/i 6 months on the app. At the time of the denial I didn't know to call the reconsideration line, and the application was within 30 days of a credit line increase (which I didn't know was important).

This has come up several times with my friends--remember a while ago when it was very hard to get a Chase card. How things have changed.

Anyhow, in each case they checked the no, not denied within six months box and got the new cards.

Why do they ask this question if they don't care about it?

I applied for Chase Marriott last week, while I was denied less than 6 month ago for Sapphire. I didn't check "Yes, I have NOT been denied credit by Chase within the last 6 months.", which means I have been denied. But I got approved instantly! So, why lie?!

I'm sure it's a factor in their decision making process or maybe they use it to review how your credit has improved from when they denied you to now?
