Not on most people's itineraries but if you are looking for a place to stay here, it might suit your needs. Out on the gasoline alley strip on the south highway so not near anything but it does have its own restaurant so maybe you don't need anything else . . .

This property just opened fairly recently so I decided to give it a try--even though I really like the Hampton Inn across the road.

So far so good--checked in and got upgraded to a King Suite complete with separate decent sized living room/kitchen (microwave and large fridge and sink), quiet and good TV selection.

No free breakfast but not bad for a Holiday Inn--makes me want to check out new HI properties now, instead of sticking with HIX only.

another stay this week and another suite upgrade^

Finally had a chance to try out the much-vaunted restaurant after a couple of times not being able to do that (eating with my colleagues in another town and getting back late). Food was surprisingly good and inventive without being over the top. From start to finish -- all have been great stays.

Great to know and thanks for your report. I've stayed at the other 2 PC properties in Red Deer before and it will be nice to try out this new location when I'm next over-nighting in Red Deer.

One of my past haunts. This hotel opened just when I stopped traveling to the area. Definitely better than the other IHG options in town although it's hard to top the service at the HIE. Same ownership so staff goes back and forth. I like the Hampton across the street as well but since this HI opened, it gives it a run for its money for newest decor and furnishings. Restaurant was just ok to me but I think they were still working out the kinks when I was there last year. Hard to complain when everything is brand new.
