Is this still possible after the merger with BA?

Yes, until further notice.

I don't expect it will last log, though.

Does this page work for you? http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loyalty-programmes/diamond-club/spending-miles/airline-partner-flights.aspx

Try it when not logged in if it doesn't work when you are logged in.

Thanks - works but i am looking for burning rates between Doha and USA which it doesnt show for some reason...?

Historically (and it may be 5 years ago now) QR declined to issue rates for USA routes to DC. I cannot remember whether they were subsequently issued, but way back when, I recall diamond club saying that it wasn't possible to book.

Suggest you call the ICC and see what they say.

I'm just about to book a flight with Qatar (flying end August) on the basis that I can earn DC miles and transfer to Avios. Is there any risk that I'll book the flight then bmi will withdraw the Qatar miles earning or Avios transfer facility?

I've just flown QR and the miles posted in my DC account within 48 hours and were immediately transferred into Avios.

The BA site says you can transfer DC Miles to Avios on as many occasions as you want, so you can get them banked part way through a trip should you feel the need, although I suspect BA will give notice before closing the transfer window.

Does anyone know if W class on Qatar will earn any BMI miles? It's not shown on the earning chart, so am I correct that I will not get any?

If it's not listed, it won't earn.

Please let me know how you got on with this... I've just booked QR flights for December on the same basis because their website did not indicate any changes to the partnership (as it does now for UA/MP). I called BAEC to see whether there was any time limit on the transfer facility and the agent said no, "it's a very popular program" and did not indicate it would be going away.

I think the danger for you, samus, is that Qatar may no longer be a partner by the time you take your flights (when Virgin was dropped, there was a notice period of about 3 months - see thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/1352652-virgin-earning-spending-vs-ends-31-aug-2012-a.html )

As regards transferring Diamond Club miles to Avios, there is no reason to suspect that this facility would be withdrawn before Diamond Club is wound up. I would be almost entirely certain that the transfer facility will never be removed while it is still in BA's hands- it should be available right up until the moment that Diamond Club is either given over to bmi regional and is therefore no longer the loyalty programme of what remains of the old bmi mainline, or is wound up by BA.

Son of a gun... I just read this today, undated so not sure when it went up:

http://www.qatarairways.com/global/en/privilege-club-news.page

Discontinuation of British Midland Airlines Partnership
This is to inform you that effective 28th October 2012, British Midland Airlines will no longer be our Airline Partner. Therefore, Privilege Club members can no longer earn Qmiles or request an award ticket on bmi from 28th October 2012.

If you have flown with bmi on or prior to 27th October 2012 and still haven't received your Qmiles, you can claim for these Qmiles up to six months from your date of travel.

Award tickets requested for travel on or beyond 28th October 2012 must be issued by 27th October 2012. Any changes to the tickets will not be permitted from 28th October 2012 onwards.

Please note that in the event a bmi flight number is changed to another airline flight number, you will not be able to earn Qmiles for travel on this flight or request for redemption even if travel date is before 27th October 2012.
For any further queries regarding the above, please contact our Member Service Centre at +974 44496449 or write to membersvc@qmiles.com

You can still continue to earn or redeem your Qmiles with our other Partner Airlines. For more details, please click here

Now, this says you can't earn or redeem Qmiles on bmi after 28 Oct, but doesn't speak to the other way around. I'd expect them to be symmetrical, but BMI's site doesn't say anything and when I booked on Sunday Qatar's passenger info page did not pop up a warning about BMI like it did for UA. I guess we'll see.

Ironically, if QR does join OW in the near future, this will prove to have been only a hiatus in earning IAG benefits from flying on QR!
