Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar - Experience/advice re: Santa Tecla festival in Tarragona?

I'll be in Barcelona Sept. 22-25, and am considering a day trip to Tarragona to see some of the "castell"-building events of the Santa Tecla festival. Does anyone here have prior experience with this festival?

In particular, is the town so crowded during the festival that I'd have difficulty driving in, finding relatively easy-access parking, and being able to see some of the focal events without having to be on-site early to reserve a decent viewing spot, or having to settle for a back-of-the-crowd view where you only get to see the top of the tower occasionally when the heads in front of you happen to shift in just the right way?

Or is there a "smart way" to ensure a good ability to see the events?

Will it be impossible to find restaurant seating for lunch or dinner?

I'll have a rental car, but am also considering arriving by train, to avoid parking problems, but I'm also worried about the availability of train tickets/seating.
