Hilton HHonors - 2 rooms - 1 paid, 1 reward. Points only on reward?

I took my family to Calgary in early July (HGI Airport). Granny + kids = 2 rooms. Had enough for 1 room x 2 nights and paid for the other. When I looked at my account, I was given only 600 points for the meal charged to the reward room + 500 for the dining promo on Site for that meal and 1000 for the dining promo on the meal charged to the paid room. No base points, no bonus, no double dip at all related to the paid room.

HHonors phone staff were great, started a case to resolve, but now at 9 days and counting with no change. Should I expect any resolution here?

One option is to contact the hotel directly and ask them to push through the points. I've done this quite a few times when I've been staying with my daughters and had two rooms. A tip for the future is to transfer both rooms onto one bill before you settle. That way you get the full credit without having to fight for it.

A Member may earn Base Points for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Base Points will be earned for all eligible folio charges incurred on both rooms. The term "eligible folio charges" is defined below. Bonus Points issued on Base Points, including tier bonuses (15%, 25% or 50%, depending on Member tier), Bonus Points earned through the HHonors Points and HHonors Points Earnings Style and double or triple Base point promotions, will apply to the total Base point credit earned for both rooms. For any other bonuses, including HHonors Marketing Partner Bonus Points and other promotional bonuses, Bonus Points will be awarded on one room only. For purposes of obtaining tier status, a Member may receive one stay credit on one room only. For purposes of earning miles for stays, miles may only be earned on one room only.

Were they on the same folio?

Not on the same folio, but I'm not asking for both but for the one I paid for. In the future, I will make sure that they are on the same folio. Thanks.

I've had luck with the Diamond desk being able to "see" both folios and when they can, they just transfer the posting to the other one which would be the paid one in your case...

I don't think this is the issue for putting spend on the same folio or not, this is about combining an award stay with a revenue stay.

In your case, by booking an award and revenue stay together (although in 2 rooms), you lost the points earning opportunity, IMHO. I have long been suspecting this issue, because I know for sure when you combine award nights and revenue nights (for a single room), those revenue nights won't accrue points.

People, please correct me if this hypothesis is wrong.

The HHonors staff member seemed to think that it had more to do with which folio was processed first. The question, if your comment is correct, is why I received night/stay credit plus base points on the food bill for the reward portion of the stay?

I'm not saying you are wrong, just wondering the logic behind it...

Not a problem...my speculation is: your revenue stay was processed as an award stay (due to you booked an award stay w/ this stay) so that only your incidentals on both rooms accrued points.

I thought so too, but the incidentals on paid room didn't get base points, only the bonus points that the hotel was pushing?! It all just seems odd, which is why I started questioning it...
