Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - HKG Lounge Question

We are flying SFO-HKG in F with an overnight layover before continuing on to PEK with KA the following afternoon. The HKG-PEK shows booked in J, however, we are in row 2H+K, which shows as First on seatguru.com. (Embedded question is are the seats/service any nicer in "F" on a flight with only 2 cabins of service, or are there really 3 classes of service, and I'm seeing a computer glitch?)
Main question is will we be able to access the same CX/QF F lounges we would access for long-haul flights (as an F + Emerald pax), or will we be in a separate terminal for a flight to mainland China with access to an inferior KA lounge of some sort?
Any suggestions on lounges we should use would be great!

Thanks! Is it likely that a KA flight to PEK will depart reasonably near gate 63, or is it random? What gate is the QF F lounge near, and would it be open late morning?

According to schedule,
KA992 departing 14:00 is a full F/J/Y service
KA902 departing 15:00 is a J/Y service - if you get 2H+K that means First class sold as J
For lounge you will able to get whatever lounge oneWorld you want, aka QF / CX Wing / CX Pier / CX Cabin / KA G16, while a reminder for true F lounge there's only CX Pier and QF First for now.
HK Gate number are just a random lottery and unless it is US bounded (which tend to have a more stable gate use) others are pretty random
QF lounge is near Gate 15, but I recall the first class section of it is closed during day time.

The Wing first class area is closed, but there is a small area set aside specifically for first class customers. No food/drink in immediate vicinity but there appears to be waiter-like service that presumably involves bringing items from nearby business class area. I visited 3 days ago but didnt use first class area because of being short on time.

Hard to predict the KA departure gate, but it is unlikely to be around Gate 63. If it's a morning flight PEK-bound flights often (but not always) depart from gates 15-19. That is quite far away from Gate 63. Closest lounge to those gates is CX/KA's G16, and "The Wing" (one of the flagship CX lounges) is also pretty close. If I recall correctly, the QF F lounge (which is also very close) is not open in late morning, but others can correct me here.
Do some searches here about the lounges. Tons and tons of threads to read. We all differ, but I'm one who (as an Emerald as well) doesn't recommend going out of your way to the F lounge at the Pier (Gate 63) if your gate ends up being far away from that. The only benefit is a mediocre (at best) buffet. CX just renovated their biz lounge around gate 4 and it's quite nice, and The Cabin (if not crowded) is a good option around gate 23. Food options not as formal as the Pier, but I find the atmosphere overwhelmingly superior.
There is just one terminal at HKIA (the so-called "terminal 2" is just a different check-in area). I think you'd benefit from spending a little time with our FAQ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-pacific-asia-miles/919353-read-first-cathay-pacific-faq-thread-everything-you-want-know-about-cx.html, also check out the HKIA airport website. Note that KA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cathay, and when you fly KA all lounges/miles/benefits/etc. are, for all intents and purposes, identical to what you get as if you're flying CX.

this is correct, QF F lounge is closed from 10am-4pm HK time. (data as of May 2011)

I agree to both claims: it's defo NOT worth the trek if ur gate happens to be at the lower numbers. I did it once last year (gate 2!) and it wasnt fun. at least i had a shower at the cabanas before they were closed. but heck.... a long walk.
