Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - When can a non-elite select preferred seats on connecting flights?

I searched a bit but couldn't find the answer so maybe someone who knows can help answer this?

I've read here that at T-24 online check-in allows preferred seat selection of remaining preferred seats by non-elites (me). If I have connecting flights A -> B (connection) B -> C, does preferred seat selection for the B-> C segment open up during online check-in at T-24 for A->B (even though B->C is maybe 26 hours out), or must I wait until T-24 for B-> C for preferred seat selection to open up for the B -> C leg (even though I'm already checked in for B->C with my original seat from the A->C check-in)?

Preferred seats for all legs on AS opens up at T-24 of original flight IIRC.

It seems that some preferred seats such as exit rows are now blocked to others during OLCI (good for elites)

Others can claim with agent at airport still though ^
