I have the free Lufthansa Credit Card with the insurance package as many of you. So far I rely on the following insurances, the health insurance for private travel abroad with my family and the rental car insurance.

Up to know I had no claims. I just would like to know your experience with these insurances, when you had a claim. Can you rely on them?

If the one you are talking about is the one with Europäische Reiseversicherung? They are normally really good however my annual plan is with them directly and not via the LH credit card so I don't know if there is a diffenrence. I would print up you policy details and get the ones ERV publishes for their direct plans and see if there are any differences in the direct comparison...

Check things like who is insured (just immeadate family - wife & kids or does it also incl. the parents etc.)

Look what the max coverage is?

Look to see if you actually have to pay for all elements of your trip with the card? Be careful when you pay with things like paypal you might not be insured.

There a whole lot of other things you might need to compare.

I relied on all insurances so far (health insurance, rental insurance and travel cancellation insurance). So far I only had a claim with the travel cancellation insurance and they were super friendly, super easy/fast and I got all the money back (besides the deductible of 100 Euro)

Paypal payment with the card are insured! So are invoices you may pay a TA to book a package (and avoid the OPC).

So far I've only used the car insurance bit (sadly stats catch up with me every 5-6 months) it works very well.

Are you sure about the paypal? I have a work friend who has a ADAC card and because he was able to pay his trip via paypal he thought his trip was insured - turns out however that was NOT the case. Just to be sure check the fineprint wouldn't want anyone to fall into this little pitfall because as that can be very expensive.

As usual don't go by what people say, but check with the CC insurance company yourself ;)
