Based in SIN, we are used to sq services.

Will TG offer a birthday cake in J on my birthday if notified in advance?

Rent a car OR simply buy the minimum number of Avios Points that you need to buy

Not sure ex-SIN, but ex-MEL flying TG.... YES! A very nice touch.

What do other airlines do? There's an automatic upgrade on your birthday if you're a Marco Polo member and flying CX. Not sure QF has anything formalised, but flying QF in F on my birthday I about 6 years ago received a menu signed by the entire crew and a bottle of Dom.

If you've got to be on the road on your special day (and I try to avoid this), a little recognition goes a long, long way!

My wife and I will be on Thai BKK-CDG in F on the night of our anniversary this year. When we flew SQ on our anniversary a few years back they brought a cake--at the time I thought it was a bit goofy. Now I look back and really appreciate it. Would Thai do this too? How do I notify them of the occasion or who do I call?

Thanks!

I think it's far more likely your special occasion will be recognised if you have status with TG*ROP. In that instance, if this is important to you I would suggest calling your local TG representative.

If you have not top tier status with TG, then I think your chances are very, very slim.

Maybe just let the crew know in a friendly way and enjoy whatever special (and extra) on-the-spot service they offer

Nope on status. I am UA 1k/GS but to TG I am just a dude and his wife in F.

On SQ they asked when we pre-ordered our meal. Oh well. No biggie. We will just enjoy an extra glass of Dom.

By all means tell them in a friendly way when you board. Maybe ask them to snap your pic when you board and are seated? TG normally makes a bit of a fuss if it's your special day.

Get the right crew, and you'll never experience a better on board experience. If you get "crew of the day", well, it can happen to anyone!
