Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - Is it unusual to have flights almost completely empty?

I have a flight in November from HKG to BKK on the A380 and I just looked at expert flyer and there are only 5 people assigned seats in econ, none in business and 3 in First. I know it's a bit far out but that seems excessively empty.

The answer to your question is your question .

All other flights I have for that time frame are at least 1/2 full in all cabins. On Cathay Pacific and British Airways. It's just strange to me that the Thai segments have so few seats assigned.

And what does "The answer to your question is your question" even mean?

"patience young grasshopper, the answer you seek will come"???

I was in a TG flight a few weeks ago from NRT-BKK. (744). I was only pax in F, 6 in C (all upstairs) and the purser told me 53 in Y. It was like a ghost ship. (what is that, about 1 crew member for every 4 passengers?

Was on TG BKK-HKG on 17 Jul with 0 pax in C (downstairs) and pretty empty in Y.

Whereas every time I fly SQ they manage to fill up the plane, somehow, even if bookings are wide open a few days before, they always manage to fill their seats in the end.

Is sad they should be more consistent. Tg coach is a great product but I cant say the same for biz.

I think the emptiest flight I was on was PEK-BKK last year but I think mainly it was due to the floods. We were 3 in F (the old purple recliners) and while I didn't see the back of the bus I had the impression it was a very light load from seeing the seat map on Expert Flyer.

Are they charging a premium for the A388? That might explain it. Lots of options to get to HKG.

Your experience was an aberration due to floods at that time, lots of Chinese groups cancelled and others were warned against going to Thailand. I fly this route a lot in both directions and usually it's full up in Y and fairly full in C, normally very few in F unless a VIP contingent is on board.
