Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Please Help With Lost Luggage Claim

In June, a friend flew over to visit me in BKK. Her routing was BOS-ORD (AA) - HKG-BKK (CX). Bags checked BOS-ORD-HKG. When she arrived at HKG (to which the bag had been checked, as she was overnighting there), it never showed up and she filed a lost baggage report. When she arrived at BKK, she had to buy some clothes as she had nothing to wear. Despite daily calls from the SGS Concierge to CX and TG (CX's baggage agent at BKK), the bag never showed up.
Eventually, a week after she returned to the U.S., AA located the bag in a back room at BA ORD and picked it up and returned it to BOS. The bag was damaged and AA gave her a new one.
She has e-mailed CX several times seeking reimbursement for her necessary and minimal clothing purchases but has received no response. While, on one hand, it appears that the bag never made it into CX's hands, nevertheless, it is CX with whom she filed the missing bag report because HKG was the first station at which the bag was supposed to be returned to her and it wasn't on the belt. When she was back in BOS, AA explained to her that you can only file one missing bag report, so the one already filed with CX will be it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get some response from CX?

Sounds obvious but try calling CX, they're notorious for ignoring e-mails, even those sent to the Marco Polo club e-mail. Numbers here http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_BH/contactus/worldwidecontacts
If you want AA to look into it, just tell them you never filed it with CX, hopefully one of them will get back to you.
Also, try filing a claim with your credit card, most have baggage insurance coverage.

You have to write to CX in BKK ( and the CX airport office) as TG is their ground handling agent. But honestly don't expect much...
I arrived on a F class flight from LHR and no bags either... TG Ground Staff gave me 3000 Thai Baht and said that's all they give.
Seems to me that it was AA that cocked up on that since they are the originating carrier. Times like these it is important to buy travel insurance!
Note that a missing bag report has nothing to do with compensating expenses...

Trust me or not - I found the best way to make CX to respond a baggage issue is to call Hong Kong Baggage Claim directly.
In most of the cases, they can't resolve the issue for you - but they can get the right person or station to contact you. My guess is most likely either JFK or YYZ will take this issue. Just in case, call those 2 stations as well.
OP can also try YVR as well (CX's NA Operation is located there and the check is issued from there to the station for delivery as well).
I don't really think someone will contact from Thailand to OP's friend in resolving this.

My wife arrived on UA Y with delayed bags in Bkk and received nothing. I arrived on OS J and received 6000 thb cash. But the great thing about Amex Cent is, they give us $1000 to spend for bags delayed over four hours.

Does this have anything to do with CX?

It has to do with BKK station handling of delayed bags. CX doesn't handle bags at BKK, so maybe this thread should be moved to the TG forum instead?

CX is still the one who made the final payout, not TG. So it can stay.

Great. Can I stay? Can Guy Betsy stay, too? I mean he mentioned arriving on TG F from Lhr on a CX thread.
Trying to say, even though tg handles the paperwork, it appears there are different payout standards.
GaryKung, are you still sore from the DM discussion, or what's up your bonnet?

You think too much - I am simply saying those UA and OS payout has nothing to do with CX.

pal, stay chill here, you're not the mod so you dont have to police around. some certain FTers love patrolling but that's to their own. we figured you're "reasonably new" to here so we just give you a friendly reminder.
if every post have to go thru the OT-meter then many data points will be missing.

Right. I think as Guy mentioned already, you shouldn't rely on airline to make a payout. Get a card with decent insurance, or just self insure...I.e. figure you might have a bag delayed, and either be prepared to spend a bit of money in that case, or pack stuff in the carryon to get you past a few days delay. I think truly lost bags are extremely rare.

No I did not say I arrived on TG F from LHR.
I arrived on CX but the ground handling agent for CX at BKK is TG, hence my post. If I arrived on TG, I would have said so and it wouldn't be relevant on the CX forum anyway.
[mod hat on]
Let's not flame others , shall we ? If you don't like others' opinion, just leave be rather than call each other out! Thank you !

I made a dumb assumption there...sorry
Point remains that there seems to be no hard and fast rules of compensation for luggage delay except cc insurance.
