MAD-PHL-PHX in B fare on US.
I think this can be upgrade from most *A programs. Has anyone done a comparison of the number of miles the various *A members charge to upgrade full-fare coach tickets on partners between EU and USA? It looks like 30k US miles and no co-pay wii do it. Can this be beaten with another program?

20.000 points on TAM in fare classes Y and B on US.
I´ve used that a couple of times this year on TP LIS - GRU. 20.000 points each way.

20,000 on Asiana for flights under 4000 miles Y & B on US. So MAD-PHL would qualify but PHL-PHX would be an additional 20,000 (not worth it). I think all Star Alliance upgrades are per segment.

Wow - TAM are really generous in that the 20,000 applies to travel between any two regions.
That beats Asiana, who charge 20,000 between 2,001 and 4,000 miles but it shoots right up to 37,000 for 4,001 to 7,000 miles.
The good thing about Asiana is that they are an SPG transfer partner so it's easy to transfer points to them. TAM are not.
By the way another airline I use, United, charge 25,000 (per segment) for *A upgrade award from Y/B to C class between EU and USA.
