If planning to re-apply for a Chase credit card promotion, for a card currently owned for several years, is it generally recommended to cancel the card for a certain time in advance of the next application?
Does Chase consider "old application to new application" time or "cancelled old card to new application" time?
Thanks very much in advance!

Keep your old card, if turned down, ask them to lower the existing CC and give you the new one...
Also put some money in a Chase Checking Account...show the love...

If you're looking at, say, the Freedom card, you probably won't get the bonus again. Chase is pretty strict about not giving a second bonus for the same card.
Now, if it's an old United or Continental card, the new UA MP card is considered a "new" card. Either way, I'd probably keep it open to try to leverage the credit line.

You should keep the old one until you gave the new one. I have been turned by Chase, called and they moved my credit limit from the old card to new card. Them I cancelled the old card.

OK, so I will keep the current card. Does it have any effect if when the fee comes in if I request a reduction in the fee (not that I would get it, but I hate fees so I like to ask...)
Also, I am seeing mixed opinions on if its possible I would get a repeat promotion from Chase. What is a good time period (in years) for trying?
And yes, I am keeping a good 4 digit amount in a chase checking that is earning no interest. And we have been cycling a good amount through the Chase credit card even though we aren't getting near as much post-promotion.
Thanks again very much.
