We have a Limousine booked which will be picking 2 x pax up at 5am going to Manchester Airport which is approx 40 mins away. Can someone please advise how much we should tip each way.
Thank you

I dont think its necessary to tip. I never even thought of tipping when using the Etihad limo service.

For me, the tip to the driver depends on if the driver had to wait for me and did I have a carry-on only or three huge pieces of checked bags. The drivers professionalism very much comes into consideration too. On a hundred dollar ride, I give on average 15-20 dollars but realize others give more or less.

$15-20? I thought this was generous. I guess I need to up my game

I tip at the AUH end if they turn up on time and drive well.
The drivers are paid peanuts generally.

Typically I do not tip airline/hotel limo drivers but will if they are especially courteous & prompt, (& also clean & fresh - no, not just the cars!). Each to their own on this one.

Thanks again for your replies. I'm thinking £5 each way is about right and happy to pay that :)

In DXB I typically tip about AED 10. In the USA I usually tip $20.

Whow, I never tip the EY or EK limo drivers. I also do not tip the lounge staff in the hotel club lounge (who help me at breakfast) or the stewardess (who takes care of me during a 10 hour flight).
On Flyertalk I learnt that many of you do tip the drivers. From other sources I learnt that hotel lounge employees in Arab 5-star hotels make a multiple of their salary from tips. And from some FA friends I know that it still happens more often than not that FC passengers purchase a nice "Thank you" gift from the duty free catalogue (I assume only with best intentions ...).
I am from a "high taxes - no tips" culture in a Northern European country, and I am also an economist by education, so tipping is a generally alien concept to me.

AUH drivers are paid very little, and live in quite poor conditions.
As in around $500 a month, and often living five or six to a room, those lucky enough to live outside the labour camps.
I don't mind helping them out if the car is clean, they arrive on time drive well and know where to go.
Cabin crew and international hotel senior staff are on a different pay basis.
I also tip the guys who wash my car and pack my bags at the supermarket when they do it well (in abu Dhabi).

Tipping varies by custom, culture and region. I try to follow local custom and not apply views from one place to another.

People like you give everyone a bad name. You always tip if not then you will be labeled as a cheapskate and you will always receive poor service.

This is a ridiculous statement. Tipping is entirely based on the culture of where you are. In many countries tipping is completely non-standard.
It is preposterous to suggest somebody is a cheapskate for not tipping in a country where nobody tips and nobody expects tips, or rather it shows your lack of understanding of cultures other than your own. Quite often service charges are already included on the bill in cultures where tipping is not the norm.
I have a habit if tipping because I am from a culture where tipping is the norm, and I often tip when I probably shouldn't and catch some workers off-guard. If I were a bit smarter I would look up the tipping culture of the place I am going to have a better understanding of expectations.
On the opposite end of the spectrum I nearly went broke in Egypt as every person I even laid eyes on wanted, and even expected, a tip.

here here.....
I live in the UK where tipping really is not part of our culture. When I travel to other places I follow the local culture. If the Etihad limo drivers here started to be rude and offered poor service to customers then they would complain and the limo drivers would be replaced. Simple.

Gentle reminder to stay on topic. The OP asked if its OK to tip and how much to tip. What people are based on their tipping habits was not the topic of discussion.

INR 200 (USD 4) for a 30 Km trip to BLR airport. The driver seemed more than happy. The car was in immaculate condition, and the driver was very courteous.

Would you tip that amount for a driver in the US??

I would most likely double that amount here in the US to ~$10. This is more of a trial and error mechanism to determine the ideal tip amount, and definitely varies by culture.

100 miles from my house to LHR.
I tend to tip £5 if the service is average, £10 if it's excellent, and £0 if they're late.

Usually tip the limo drivers in Abu Dhabi 20 AED; 5 EUR in Europe. Do not tip in Singapore or China as it is not part of the customs. Also tip the baggage handlers in Abu Dhabi 5 AED. Poor guys are making peanuts.

INR 100 for a 16 km trip to the Etihad limo driver (Avis provides the limo service) in BLR. The trip would've cost about INR 350 if I'd paid for it (in an economy airconditioned car), so that's about a 25% tip. The driver seemed satisfied with the tip.
The driver was on-time, courteous and nice, and helped me with my checked-in bag up two flights of stairs, and generally made my arrival pleasant.

I usually tip between $5 and $10 for a cab ride. I've noticed that most hotels are a $40 (or the equivalent in local currency) cab ride away from downtown.
There have been times when I've tipped nothing, such as when the driver doesn't help with the bags or drives recklessly.
Once I overheard a cabbie talking to his friend on a bluetooth headset and was advising him where the nearest food bank was. After he hung up, I asked him if his friend was on hard times and he said he was because of ill health, so I gave the cabbie a normal tip but also gave him a $100 bill to give to his friend so he could buy groceries. I hope he did give his friend the money though!

Recently, I tipped AUD 5.00 in BNE. On the way back I flew with VA to SYD and on to LHR with EY, so was not eligible for the limo ride. I ended up paying AUD 58.00 for a taxi ride from Fortitude Valley (close to CBD/downtown area) to the airport. I think I should have tipped more...

I'm sure the driver would have loved more, but ~10% of the fare (assuming the driver knew where they were going and had a sense of personal hygiene) in Australia seems fair or even generous.

Fly through LHR couple of times a month and have spoken to the drivers on many an occasion about this as well as meet the same guys over and again.
They tell me generally that I am one of the very few who tip, though they do remember my address and are therefore always early and happy to wait for me. I generally give £10 or £20 if I've no tenner.
In AUH I now usually give AED20 and in PVG and BOM I also tip though varying amounts. In Shanghai tipping is certainly NOT the culture but makes sure that the driver is willing to bend over backwards to help.
One thing I've always noticed, particularly in England where I'm from and live, is that if someone is getting something for free they'll often not tip because they've not been reminded to by having cash in their hands. Does that make sense ? for example people would generally always tip a black cab from their change so what's the diff :)
