Korean Air Skypass - Unavailable Seats 29 Days Out

I had 3 coach seats booked LAX-GRU. I'm not an elite. When the 30 day mark hit, I logged in at 12:01am to get seat assignments. There was not a single seat available in rows 28-40. The only coach seats were 41-53. I called the next day and the person said there were none available in 28-40. I asked her how I could log on at 1 minute after seats were available, and I'm talking to her 30 hours after seats were available, and have the entire section taken. She didn't have a real answer, and I asked it 3 times. I called back the next day and this person gave me 3 seats together in row 31 without hesitation. What gives?

I think they block the front part of the economy section for their elites.

What's odd is that if u ticket through say Expedia, you can actually book those seats in the front section, elite or not.
But if you are not a Skypass elite, the front seats are blocked out on the KE website.
