I was wondering if anyone knows what the best way to get to BRU is for a 625 flight on Aug 5, (to Casablanca)

I will be arriving in Gare Midi around 1130 PM, I don't plan on getting a hotel as there won't be too many hours to kill. However, it seems I will miss the last train that goes from Midi to BRU,

I don't mind killing some time by gare midi and taking the first train at 5 am. However, i'm afraid that getting to the airport ~1 hr before a non-schegen flight may not be enough? I have never gone through BRU before and am not sure how busy they are in the morning.

I've been trying to look for other options to get from gare midi to BRU after I arrive at 1130PM (bus, metro, etc.)?

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks,
Matt

To do it cheaply you are looking at bus options (possibly with other local transport in the city centre. But it does seem to mostly shut down for the night.

Just a thought, how are you arriving at midi? Train? if so from where? does it stop anywhere else in brussels?

The Gare du Midi isn't in the most savory neighborhood so you might want to check out the nightlife in the center of town (not my thing, so I can't offer recommendations). A taxi during morning rush hour was about 55€ in 2009, so probably similar with no traffic three years later.

I'm coming in from Paris. I'm trying to get to casablanca, and the air france/air maroc flights were 600-800 euro, and easy jet times not doable.

I would even spring for a hotel, if it had an airport shuttle in the morning.

I'm just worried about taking the 5 AM train from Midi to BRU as my flight departs at 625.

The Brussels Midi area isn't the most savoury. There's an Ibis hotel just outside Midi station.
Also the trains to the airport are incredibly unreliable, though they might be able to run the first ones in the day correctly.

IIRC there's a Sheraton right at the Brussels airport, but it won't be cheap.

Your arrival might be too late to get to the airport by train that night, so using an airport hotel would still require a taxi.

As others have said, the area around Gare de Midi is not considered safe.
