My Fiance booked tickets Online for Me and my childeren, with his Credit Card (using MasterCard SecureCode).
I always travel with CX and he always pays for my tickets with Credit card.
Now i noticed something different on our ITINERARY what i havent seen on previous tickets.
It says; Form Of Identity; CC.CA XXXXXX While from memory it always said NONE.
Which made me worry because he is in Sydney and i'm in Amsterdam
I have called CX Amsterdam and asked them what it meant and if they need to see the Credit Card. The women i spoke to said that i didnt have to worry that they dont need to see the Card, There isnt a Present Credit Card Check on our tickets...
But searching on the internet i found several people saying that if it says NONE i dont need to show the card, But it has part of the Credit Card behind it i do need to show Credit Card. I called CX eservice Hong kong just to be sure. But the women i spoke to said that i do need to show the credit card or the person who payed for it has to go to CX at the sydney airport and show the Credit Card before august 5th.
Ok i was much confused and still am tho. I called CX amsterdam again and asked them how come hong kong gives me a different answer. She said that she didnt understand and that they dont need to see the credit card. She checked my ITINERARY twice and she is sure that it's ok. She thinks the women in hong kong just gave me a standard answer to get it over with quick.
I emailed the eservice thats been 3 days ago and still no answer..
Anyone else had this problem before?

if he DID use the mastercode, standard procedure means you DO NOT require credit card check.
HOWEVER, noone knows if you'll get a sub-par agent and checkin and insist to do credit card check. I personally, as a habit, would go stop by the CX counter if i go pass one, just to make sure the pax (usually my sister) dont get stuck by oddball reasons.
do you have enough time to do this, may i ask?

We're leaving on august 5th so we do have enough time to do that.
It isnt much of a hassle altho he has to drive 2 hours to get there.
But getting two different answers is really confusing.

ok. My sister's ticket now has sth on the form of identity (my card number, masked). And my award ticket also have sth. I'll go to the ticket office and see if they want to see the card for my sister's ticket, then i can report back.

As cxfan1960 and I have said previously, it is not too much hassle, do it.
Worst case - waste of time.
If not, you are on your own.

Well this is the first time i'm taking the kids with me to Sydney.
So yeh i dont wanna risk anything.. Going to the airport and not being able to get on the flight.
Even tho it hasnt been a problem before (All my tickets in the past 4 years have been booked with his CC)
Just the 2 different answers confused me a bit and wasnt sure what to do.
better be safe than sorry...

oh no, worst case taht happens you have to pay the amount on a card you hold, and they will refund your fiance on his card.

In my experience, this depends entirely on the departure airport staff. If you are departing from the Philippines you're screwed; any mention of CC in the record and you'll need to show it or you won't fly.
But if you are departing from Amsterdam, and the staff there say you are okay, it will probably work fine. As others have stated, you should probably go double check to make sure. Maybe see if you can find out who will be the supervisor on the day of your flight and talk to that person about it, or ask them to put a note in your record about it.

The problem is i dont have a credit card or the cash to pay the full amount if that would happen. :(

I purchased a ticket before the system switch back in February or something. Before the switch, the e-ticket said "NONE" and after the switch it said "CC.VI.XXXXX..." so I believe that this is just a consequence of the new computer system. I was never checked for my credit card at the airport so I think you should be safe.

This is not to alarm you as I had never had my CC verified for the purpose of ID. Bought on-line at least 5 times using CC but never asked for at check-in. They are more concern with matching names on passport and with names shown on the ticket. But on the safe side, have a copy of the CC statement showing the transaction, better still if both your fiancee and you have the same address.
Some airlines policy re: payment using CC.
"Please use your own credit card for the transaction. Meanwhile, you must be one of the passengers in the transaction.
You are required to present the credit card used to purchase the ticket during check-in at the airport.
If the cardholder fails to present the physical card originally used for booking transaction, the carrier reserves the right to deny boarding".

Not quite sure if this could help: how about asking your fiance to email/fax you a photo/photocopy of the card (both sides) that you can print out and show at check-in? The staff would probably be happy enough with that...

That's all you need really. Try to get a confirmation from Amsterdam staff in the form of a letter which they can email to you and you present this at checkin.

We dont have the same adress, He lives in Australia and i'm in The Netherlands. ( hopefully that will change next year :D )
I know that if we want to be safe he has to show the card at CX sydney office.. Guess thats the best way to go.
Now there is another problem (sigh) His credit card expired on 6/12.. never thought of a credit card check as it wasnt requierd in the past years. He still has the same CC account he only got a new Credit card.. he reckons the numbers on the card didnt change. Would that be a problem as it isnt the orginal CC used to pay? only the expire date changed..

Do they do that? I've never heard of that before.. That would be even better if i could ask for that.

My mates and I booked tix yesterday. I did it with miles and online, my mates went to an agency but they still got etickets.
On the cover of all three of our tickets it still says (page 3)
"IMPORTANT NOTES
If your Electronic Ticket was purchased by telephone from a Cathay Pacific office or from cathaypacific.com using Visa's Verified by Visa or Mastercard's MasterSecure you will NOT be asked to show the credit card used to pay for your ticket at check-in on departure.
However if your Electronic Ticket purchase was made NOT USING Verified by Visa or Mastersecure you will need to show your credit card either at check-in or at any Cathay Pacific office prior to travel. The person named on the credit card does not need to be the person travelling, but the actual credit card used for purchase must be presented for verification otherwise you may be asked to make a cash or alternative credit card payment at check-in."
All tickets state: "FORM OF IDENTITY : MS...."

Both of them makes sense, to prevent fraud. Most transactions now have "Visa's Verified by Visa or Mastercard's MasterSecure".

As transactions has already gone through using 6/12, the expiry of the CC will be around 6/15 after renewal if the # is the same. However, if the CC # is not the same, you may have a pontential problem.

The booking is been made with Mastercard's MasterSecure..
What could be the problem if the numbers aren't the same?
I mean it's him, he can show his ID..His name is on the confirmation email below the "payment".

Hi guys,
On the same topic of CC verification, I used my Father's CC to book flights for myself and fiance to Perth from Dublin. The problem here is that if I need to verify the CC before travelling, there doesn't seem to be a CX office in Dublin, or anywhere in Ireland for that matter. Will it be okay to verify the card upon check-in at the airport with my Father present just the once?? He isn't travelling, and we have a 3 day stopover in Hong Kong before going on to Perth...will they ask again leaving Hong Kong??? So confused! Thanks for any help or feedback :)

Please READ the previous post : # 17.
And if you bought a ticket via a travel website / or agency.. you don't need to show your card at check in. Only through the CX website and only if you did not use Visa or Mastercard with Securecode or Verify by Visa.
FYI - CX doesn't fly from Dublin so how are you going to do what you plan to do at the airport?
And welcome to FlyerTalk and the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles forum website anyway.

with my previous experience, they only ask once at the point of departure. Most of them should be able to put the note in after that point so your latter sectors shouldnt impose a problem.
If there isnt a CX office near you, they can give you a form which you can fax them with the front and back of the card to verify. Call your nearest CX office and ask.

In my experience if your first leg is not operated by CX / KA it is simply not checked even if supposed to, and CX will not check for it on the way back, either. Also, even if there is a check at DUB, if your father can be present to show the card it would suffice.
