Are Ooty hotels safe? I am going for my honeymoon and do not want to take any unnecessary risks.
India - Ooty HotelsView Full Version : Ooty Hotels siya87 Jul 20, 12, 12:36 am Are Ooty hotels safe? I am going for my honeymoon and do not want to take any unnecessary risks. RichardInSF Jul 20, 12, 8:52 am Hello, Siya87 and welcome to Flyertalk! I didn't know what Ooty hotels were, so I went to this website: http://www.ootyhotels.net/ooty_hotels.htm Ooty is a town in Tamil Nadu, India. The hotel listing on the web page above lists the hotels in town, giving them a star ranking. The highest ranking is 4 stars, and that goes to a Holiday Inn and a Days Inn. Neither of these are luxury hotels, so I think you will probably not get the answers you desire in this forum. To improve responses, I am going to move this thread to our India forum, where I believe the posters are more likely to have the information you are looking for. Again, welcome to FT! AJLondon Jul 21, 12, 1:18 pm I have stayed at both the Taj Savoy and the Holiday Inn in Ooty. (Oct 2011.) Both reasonable experiences, but nothing spectacular. I probably won't return to Ooty, not because of something with the hotels, but just becuase the whole place seemed very "meh" to me.... The only thing I really liked were the tea estates and the (export quality only) white needle tea. Picked up quite a few packs. ^ edvardnora8 Jul 23, 12, 1:29 am The hill station is very very popular with tourists. Only because it’s safe. Otherwise why would it be such a hit? Jamoldo Jul 23, 12, 3:08 am because the climate is far more pleasant than below... elisaliza8 Jul 25, 12, 6:35 am If you’re so scared spend your honeymoon at home man! chemboy Jul 27, 12, 10:47 am Ive stayed at the savoy, Holiday inn gem park and Sullivan court. They are all pretty good if not amazing hotels. Savoy has a nice old-world-british-raj ambience and i tend to lean toward the savoy more than the others. you can also try staying at Coonoor. its a little less crowded and touristy compared to ooty. the Gateway Hotel coonoor is an option worth checking out. :D hope you have a great trip! Keyser Jul 27, 12, 1:23 pm anyone else find it strange that this thread has an unusual number of first time posters who have not returned to post again????
