LAN LANPASS - LAN south america pass Question!

hey all i'm looking to fly july 30th BUE-IGR, i flew in from the usa on lan and am flying out lan.
i therefore want to possibly use the lan south america pass or oneworld pass still dont know whats better? or where to find these options but everything else is ridiculously expensive.

read some conflicting info round here so wanted some advice. how do i book if at all possible within 14 days of departure? do i need a special TA? is it impossible?

my general itinierary is
BUE-IGR JULY 30TH
IGR-BUE JULY 31ST
BUE-MDZ AUGUST
SCL-BUE AUGUST

You can use the Lan south America pass to price up the flights - or you can put in a multi itinerary on the site as well. The airpass version comes out at GBP 471 (priced in GBP because I'm based in the UK).

what about the fact that im within 14 days? i keep getting errors? did you try for july 30th?
as well is it cheaper using the "oneworld" method?

Ah yes - it does state in the T&Cs yo have to purchase 14 days in advance.

Have you tried a normal multi stop itineraty on lan.com?

You can try, but one way tickets are expensive in south america. How about splitting the straight return to IRG from the other two tickets? Or using miles to buy some of them?

THere's al;so the oneworld visit south america pas, but from T&Cs "Available for sale only to residents of countries outside South America. This fare must be booked before departure from country of origin, and in conjunction with return travel to South America on oneworld member airlines."

You can't buy the LAN pass within 14 days of travel - it says so on the T&Cs.

The oneworld south america pass doesn't mention an advance puchasae restriction, but does mention you have to buy it outside South america, before you fly in. You can contact any of the oneworld airlines to book it.

The good news is that the buses are VERY comfortable, with the Cama Ejecutivo having 180 degree reclining seats and even a dinner service. (Pretend like it's a business class overnight plane flight)

As I recall, you just need an international booking code, any code really, there seems to be no check on dates, names, etc.

ok but here's my problem, i need to travel july 30th.. within 14 days.. any idea if i make the booking.. (my pnr works) it won't let me make it for those dates but can i change it after i book it?

Well, changes are allowed at $30 change fee per pax, not bad.
Don't recall if mentioned upthread, but do check buying without the SA Pass. The SA pass books into H while often you can just buy economy V cheaper.

it allows me for not within 14 days,.. the question with the lan south america pass is can i book it for after 14 days and change it back to within 14 days just by paying the fee?

(with lan pass it comes out to around 705USD without it comes out to 940)

Interesting idea... a problem might be you will have an H fare (special fare) and when they change they will look for an H fare availability and might clue in, or might not, or give you another fare class and you pay the difference... but I am just talking out loud, knowing nothing, trying to be helpful

i had accidentally while searching originally for these fares by either paying or buying kms, experianced a "mistake" in the website where it priced out the ticket to 0$ + tax
this lasted a few hours and i couldnt replicate it intentionally kinda just fluked it, after about 6hrs i had tickets confirmed and with ticket numbers.
so i went ahead and booked a few tickets...
LAN went ahead and confirmed and even put a hold on the money on my credit card. they sent me a ticket number and an agent sent me an email that my flight was confirmed and booked. this was 7 days ago.today they show as "suspended" and some "voided" i called lan and they told me to come in person to verify my identity and pay in cash or crdit at the sales office. i did. they wouldnt accept cash payment or any payment. they said i should go to a lan store the next day (this was at an airport) as only their "internal department" could fix it and they were not working on sunday. i called up and it seems their "internal department" was working sunday. they requested a picture of my passport and my credit card. i sent it. they then said they wouldn't honor it. they said my only choice was to book another flight and write a complaint.

any suggestions?

the main let down is that they cancelled it a day before my flight leaving me completely inconvenienced.(although i do have a somewhat backup plan.)
whats the legal status here? is this much different from the united deal?

Sounds like LAN has gone into a lock down on this one and so the fight will be uphill, very uphill. IMHO (and experience) to continue to fight directly with them on this would be futile, frustrating. I feel for you that you jumped through the hoops for nothing. And, as you said, the late notice. The late notice is disturbing. The hoops are just because no low level person was willing to step up to the plate, so referred you elsewhere. In the end, no one was willing to put their job at risk by allowing a $0 ticket.

Probably not worth it because of the obvious fare mistake, but to challenge it afterward you'd need to pursue government oversight (i.e. like INDECOPI) or a lawyer. LAN will just say the file is closed. Sorry to be pessimistic for you.

is INDECOPI only in peru? my first flight was on LA4024 i think that means lan chile. is that correct? if so do you know of any government agencies in chile worth contacting?

so Lan finally got back to me from the customer relations department after i filed a DOT complaint. below is a quote

"With reference to your ticket 045-XXXXXXXXXX traveling from Buenos Aires to Santiago and Sydney on LA2429 AND LA807, please be advised that it has been voided due to the fare not being paid for; only the taxes have been paid."

as of now the taxes have charged to my credit card.
the question is LAN says that "i have not payed for the fare" only taxes.
but from doing a little research it seems more like, legally, they have entered a written contract i have both an email from an agent as well as the PDF of the ticket and transaction wich clearly has written the price of the ticket as 0.00USD. so that means that by them issuing the ticket and offering me transportation at 0$ if i have paid the tax wich is all they asked of me they must honor the ticket?

it seems that a purchase is not just for money, rather "a deed" or contract is considered a purchase.. so if they gave me this contract i have the right to fly?

they seem to say that i didnt "PAY" for a flight. but my argument is i don't need to "pay" for it, i just need the contract or "ticket" wich promises me the service of flying on their aircraft. so long as i fulfill all the stipulations - paying for the tax, etc.. they should be bound to this right? we both virtually "signed" a contract for my transportation on their airline, that is binding isn't it?

any ideas? comments?

No. It was a question, with a question mark. I am interested to see what happens with the DOT complaint you made... I have a spat with them too and am interested to see if this mechanism works?
