LAN LANPASS - Award availability to partners

Hi all,

Does anyone here know of any situation where LAN has released award inventory to its own members but not to oneworld partners?

It's my understanding that U is business class award inventory and I see low-level [40K] award seats for an SCL-GRU one-way on LAN.com so U should be available there. But neither BA nor AA nor QF can pull it up (though that doesn't mean anything in itself since many times agents don't know how to do it properly).

So I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I should do...

Not so much as not releasing, but rather not communicating well. Complicated, but even LAN when they go to default system it may not access all U space. They then switch to their "MundoLan" system which does show all U space. Maybe that is solution: have BA AA make sure they access MundoLan? Or have them call LAN to get access to the available U?

The LAN oneworld liason is probably the way to go on this one, as I feared, since this person/desk is a very nebulous entity...

how would i search the LAN award availability class, to see if it should be available for BA or AA? is that even possible? is there a certain threshhold a award gets to wherein it should be allocated to partners?

My feeling is that they don't release many J seats for award travel. Using my LANPASS Kms. for a LIM-LAX J reward, I had to search out to the first day the seat became available online (between 10 and 11 months in the future), and after I got the seat, there weren't anymore available for that date. It was fairly complicated because I had to first grab the LIM-LAX sector, make a fake LAX-LIM booking and a month later change that to my real travel date when a space finally became available. Commodores can change award dates without a penalty.
