Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Overnight stay/lounge at Singapore airport?

Due to a little booking mistake (I confused AM with PM!) I will be arriving at midnight between Saturday and Sunday, and leaving again Sunday 8 PM from Singapore airport. I am booked in business class on Singapore Airlines all the way, so I should be well rested, but 20 hours is slightly longer than I anticipated!

Are there any overnight options to spend the night apart from airport hotels, e.g. 24-hour lounges? I won't really be needing sleep since I will have slept well on the previous flight! I am *A Gold if that helps.

Thanks!

You can stay in the SKL but for such a long layover I'd suggest stay 6 hrs --8hrs at the Transit Hotel ( you don't have to clear customs--it is in the terminal) and the cost is very reasonable, and the rest of the time in the SKL and airport.

Just flew in from SIN today... The lounges are open 24 hrs. Can't speak for Singapore lounge as I flew Cathay Pacific, but at least one of the two OneWorld lounges in terminal 1 has massage chairs that recline nearly all the way (the one that caters to JAL customers), allowing to get some relatively comfortable sleep. There are also options inside security where you can rent a rest/sleep space from a couple of hours to overnight. given the length of your connection, you may wish to consider booking a space for a few good hours of rest.

Changi airport is an amazing destination in itself, from shops to movies to butterfly garden, so you won't be bored. But also consider taking a tour of the city - there are desks inside the terminal. Check out Changi web site for more info.

Finally, hold on to your boarding pass as there are many places, at least in the city, that offer discounts if you flew singapore airlines within the last 7 days.

I believe the business class lounge is open 24hrs. I just had the same dilemma but opted to stay at the Crowne Plaza in terminal 3. It was extremely convenient and located in the same terminal as singapore airlines

Thanks for all the quick responses. That's awesome with the 24 hr lounges! I have not spend any time at the airport so I will definitely explore that, and also probably head into town for some chili crab, yum. :)

Does business class lounge valid for arriving passengers? Will arrive around 5:30 AM direct from EWR. Plan to go to the lounge for shower and grab some bites. My next flight, not in the same itinerary is about 5 hours later to KUL.

The transit hotel is disgusting as far as I can recall. Stale smoke, small rooms

Crowne Plaza is a much better option if you don't want to stay in the city

The SKL business side is dead from 2AM to 6AM... I stayed over night last September and slept on a couch in the lounge. Had dinner and breakfast in the lounge.

I did a 7 hour overnight layover (2arrival-9am departure IIRC) once in F to J on the way to DPS. It was effectively 5 hours in the lounge or the hotel and the only consideration was our comfort, not $.

If it were 6-7 then it would have been an easy to choice to go with hotel. But for only 5 hours, we did the F lounge. Spent only an hour or two in the relax room, took a shower, ate a little and didnt regret the choice at all...

So if I were you, with that length of layover, I'd opt for the hotel. It would be a big drag after the 5 hour mark IMHO.

As long as you have an onward Business class boarding pass on SQ, you will be allowed into the SKL at Terminal 3. Your KUL flight will depart from T2.

Have to agree the Crowne Plaza is a really good option.

These days when I have to go to Singapore on Business I base myself at the Crowne Plaza and if I need to catch the train into the city. Thankfully quite a few of my clients are now located at the nearby Chango Business Park.

If you're well rested, you should just head into town and get a sample of the nightlife. Come back in the afternoon and sack out in the SKL.

If I arrive in F and depart in J... do I have access to the First Lounge?

Access is based on your outbound journey, so only J lounge, unless you are SQ PPS Solitaire. As a consolation, the F lounges are really not hugely better than the J lounge, with maybe the exception of The Private Room in T3 F lounge. But even that is not a thaaaat great, in my opinion.

And if you talking the lounges in T2, there is really not a significant difference between F and J lounges. In fact, one coud argue the T2 J lounge is better because a) the wine and champagne is easy access andvsel service in J, while in F its behind the bar you have to wait for the bartender to help you and b) the J lounge is more spacious.

Had a very clean room at the T2 Ambassador Transit lounge a few weeks ago. Quiet and did the job. S$42 for asimple room for 4-5 hours of quality sleep that I needed. Crowne will cost you much more, so that may make a difference. And its more of a hike from the terminal.

Used their showers (at their lounge across the hallway) and found it better than SQ lounge showers, in fact. Higher pressure and hotter water.

Any clues as to good DAY only rates at the Changi Crowne plaza.... sometimes they are only noon-6p and I would like to check in around 8am.

I am arriving on SQ C early morning and have a departure on SQ C late the same evening. As I understand it is OK for me to use the SKL on arrival once I have picked up my BP for my next flight.
How do I get out of the airport after my morning visit to the SKL? Where should I store my cabin luggage during the day? Airside or landside?

There are left luggage facilities both airside and streetside, I tend to use airside.

Upon arrival go to the transfer desk and obtain your onward BP is you're not already in possession of it. Have breakfast and a shower, drop off your bags and head through immigration.

Enjoy the day.

Come back, go through immigration again. Pick up your bag. Have a shower and dinner.....

So I'm arriving at around 0050 Sunday in SQ F, but not departing until 1055 Monday. Sunday night will be at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. Is any SIN lounge access possible for the several hours after arrival on Sunday morning, given that it's not necessary to clear immigration until exiting the airport?

Lounge access is SIN is for departing, not arriving, pax. I don't believe there's an exception for SQ F.

If you have the BP for the next flight (assuming it's SQ F/J as well) you should be allowed access to the SKL. It worked for me when I arrived at 10pm with a connection departing 10am the next day. If you don't have the BP (assuming it's SQ F/J) they should be able to give it to you in the SKL or at the SQ transit desk. SQ has a 48 hour early check-in policy at Changi.

If not connecting with SQ there are paid lounge options at Changi. Or even consider some time at one of the transit hotels (minimum 6 hours stay).

There is a nice one in T3. You will clearly see signs for the Transit Hotel as you walk around. I have always found the rooms in that hotel to be clean and worth the $. I would stay there again. Now I do find the shower only facility to be sub-par and of questionable cleanliness.

I am in Changi right now, having arrived at 1.30 AM. The transit hotel in T3 was full, so I recommend booking in advance if your stay is critical. There is also one in T2 but I did not check it. Since I had slept very well on the flight (those flat beds are awesome!), I went to the Silverkris lounge and took a shower. Note that there are only showers in the Business lounge; if you are in economy and *G you have to go to the Gold lounge which does not have showers. But there are for-pay showers on the same level if needed. I did not see any lie-down chairs in the business lounge, but there was a "resting lounge" nearby for all passengers with reclining seats. Now I am having breakfast in the lounge and will soon head out to Singapore for some shopping and sightseeing!

This lounge accessible also with Priority Pass so showers will be free.

For all the griping people do about *G lounge not having showers -- the Transit Lounge shower costs only SGD $8. Pretty reasonable alternative I think.

Considering how many lounges worldwide with *G access have showers, and SIN being a top of the line airport, having to pay for a shower is rather lame.

Just saying.

TPR closes in the middle of the night, but you can use the FC section of the SQ lounge. There are very nice showers. The lounge will be quiet and empty. TPR opens in time for you to have a very nice breakfast, buffet or order from the menu, in TPR with champagne.

Last month my wife spent a few hours in the early morning in T2 F lounge from around 2am to 5:30am in transit. No food in F lounge, except for instant noodles that you have to ask for, apparently. I was really surprised about this. Gimme a break. Even on board they can fix you an easy sandwich or something better than instant noodles. Why not F lounge? And she was actually ticketed F too. So unless T3 F is different, don't expect real food in the lounge in the wee hours just after you arrive. TPR closes at 2am, or at least it did a week ago.

I would think T3 is better because it's mostly intercontinental destinations... but then again I may be wrong... only transited SIN once.

My situation is a little different and I want to see if this is possible...

In SIN for 2 nights - staying downtown/CBD for night #1. Flying out at 8:05 AM. So, instead of getting up really early have a ruined night anyway, I figure I stay at the airport for night #2.

Questions:

1 - Flying in and out on SQ C. I guess it is not a problem to get my boarding pass for the 8:05 AM flight the day before? (Another post said 48 hours advanced check in is available at SIN)

2 - I love airports and want to make it a destination. What activities should I plan for the evening before? What should I check out as far as interesting departing flights, facilities, stores, etc.

3 - It seems SQ uses T2 and T3 and T2 is for Southeast Asia destinations only? Are the terminals connected air-side?

4 - I probably will book at 6 hours block at one of the transit hotels. The CP is nice but too expensive for just a few hours of stay. I don't think I want to pull an all-nighter at the lounge either. So, I guess I should book the hotel at my terminal, wake up the next morning, get some food at SKL and board?

Thanks.

The T3 transit hotel is new and somewhat stylish, but I wouldn't say the same about the one in T2 unless it's been renovated (as T1 was IIRC). Remember that Crowne Plaza is land side, so it won't work for your plan to explore the airport the day before your flight. It's also much more expensive than the transit hotels, although it's quite nice.

You can indeed check in for SQ flights exSIN at T-48 and go airside at that time. IME you also have lounge access the evening before, so you could check in around late afternoon/early evening (remember that the MRT shuts down in the evening, so you might want to plan to arrive while you can easily use public transport), go to the lounge for some food (dinner if you have TPR access), explore the airport for a while (cactus and butterfly gardens, perhaps some shopping or a free movie, etc.), return to the lounge for an after dinner drink (or coffee or dessert, etc.) and then go to your transit hotel. You can use both the SQ T2 and T3 lounges for variety. In the morning, you can go to the lounge again for your morning coffee, newspaper, and breakfast (although if there will be breakfast served on board, consider whether you'll want to eat or sleep then). The cactus garden is good for plane spotting, although it is also used as a smoking porch. If you're inclined, there's also a large swimming pool in the airport, although it does close in the evening. The admission fee seems to include a towel, a shower, and a nonalcoholic beverage.

Yes, T2 and T3 are connected airside, although the little train between the terminals becomes infrequent and then stops in the middle of the night, with an airside bus run a couple times in this interval IIRC. Regardless, you can walk airside as the terminals are essentially one building.
