I will be travelling to France on a business trip for a week. I am an Indian citizen with US green card.

I will have all the needed documents by Monday. But when i checked France consulate, first available appointment is on Aug 8th. I found one available for tomorrow, but I would not be getting the required original documents from our French office. Plus I need to fly out to SFO, i live in Seattle.

Are there any other options for me? I looked at instructions for Schengen visa, it seems that i have to stay longer time for the country that I am getting a visa from. Is this correct information?

What are my other options?

any other Schengen country consulate nearer? maybe you could justify this because your first point of entry is not Schengen?

Well, technically the requirement is that you should apply to the Schengen country that is your "main destination". If you have no main destination, then you should apply to the country that is your point of entry into the Schengen area. Unfortunately, assuming that you are visiting only France, I find it hard to see how you can avoid having to apply at the French mission. But others may have other ideas...
