Nordic Countries - The White Guide (Swedish Restaurants)

Since I'm asking some questions - I'll try to share things as I learn them.

People have asked about restaurants in Sweden. Michelin doesn't have a guide to Sweden (although I believe there is some coverage of Stockholm in one of its guides that covers a lot of big cities). *The* restaurant book for Sweden is the White Guide:

http://www.whiteguide.se/

It is (unfortunately for people who don't read Swedish) only written in Swedish. But if you "google" White Guide - and bring up the website - you can use "google translate". Now "google translate" isn't perfect (for example - a recent "google translate" I did said a hotel had a great "spasm" (correct word was spa :)). But at least you can get a general idea. Plus there are ratings. And a search engine.

Also note that while many restaurants have websites - many are also only written in Swedish. "Google translate" is handy for those restaurant websites as well.

Finally - dining in Stockholm is - in general - expensive compared to restaurant prices in most of the United States - no matter what price range you're looking at. Liquor is very expensive. And I have yet to find a beer gastropub or similar with Happy Hour prices ;). Robyn
