Practical Travel Safety Issues - Traveling JFK<->BGI with family. SDOO possible???

I'm traveling with my family JFK <-> BGI on AA. Currently scheduled for Terminal 8. Is there any hope of SDOO at JFK and, if so, where/how? I usually fly out of EWR and am completely unfamiliar with JFK.

I flew EWR <-> PBI in April (first time since AIT) and in both locations was directed through the WTMD with my children while my husband was sent through AIT. Actually, they sent my 10-year-old daughter and I through the WTMD and when I realized what was going on I just grabbed the 14-year-old daughter and pushed her ahead of me. The gate keeper knew what I was doing but didn't say anything. Does JFK generally do the same thing?

Thanks for your help.

JFK T8 had WTMD/BKSX at all lanes the last time I was there (it's a central checkpoint). When it gets busy they do seem to rope off many of the BKSX machines. I might aim to arrive at the airport at a busy time to maximize chances that they will be off or allow for a good SDOO probability.

At all US airports, children 12 and under are supposed to be sent through the WTMD with shoes on. From what I've observed, parents and kids 13 - 18 are allowed to go through the WTMD with their kids, but have to take shoes off.

I'm not sure if the second part above is policy or was just a one off, however. Anyone know the policy for sure? (Are there still TSOs here or have they been driven away?)

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll hope they follow their own rules and just try pushing the 14 year-old thru again.
