This thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/intercontinental-hotels-priority-club-inter-continental-ambassador/650386-please-post-your-priority-club-elite-experiences.html)on the Priority Club forum is really useful to get a quick review of a hotel. As the Club Carlson forum grows, I thought it would help that we have a similar thread to share our experiences.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Park Inn, Heathrow, UK
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Okay, but nothing special
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received Business room
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No
Also, welcomed as a gold member at check in although the agent disappeared for five minutes to print the letter.
How are the rooms?
Decent size, but old and tired. For a business room the workspace was very small and did not have an adjustable chair.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Parking included in rate (a rarity at LHR)
Bad:
Check in was slow
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Booked through corporate travel, and this is now our 'preferred hotel' for the office. However, with my own money I'd stay elsewhere.

Not really.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Bad:
Indifferent staff
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Would consider if I was flying from Stansted, but otherwise see no reason to return.

Just did it for 50k point promo. Rate was decent enough ($65)
But if paying for vacation, probably not.
In Bangkok you can find other much nicer hotels at slightly more. (especially if you have status at other chain). And there's plenty of deal/sale always going on.

How are the rooms?
Decent, rooms exactly the same as standard room I had at the property at a different stay, just higher floor, bathrobe & slippers and Nespresso machine. Room had dust in all corners, I even wrote a message to housekeeping in the dust on the floor. Bath tub's drainage partially blocked. Window dirty from INSIDE.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Upgrade and breakfast. Free access to the health club and its swimming pool, sauna and steam room. I had all of those facilities for myself.
Bad:
cleanliness of room.

had a decent rate, and would return if in Liverpool again if they sort out their room cleaning and housekeeping.

Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt Kensington, London, UK

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard single room, upgraded to standard double room
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes, had to ask though
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No
How are the rooms?
Average. Bed is standard double. Bathroom small but good shower pressure. The hotel is inside an old building and there doesn't seem to have been much renovation inside so 'feels' old. Small LCD TV & room on the small size.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Upgrade given. Excellent central London location.
Bad:
Rooms old and small. I imagine that the single room would be tiny. Could do with some refurbishment to liven up the interior.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I used gold points. 10,000 + £50 on a Friday night for the single room (which was upgraded to a double) and this is great value for central London and I would return on this rate. I would pay up to ~£90 without points but no more than this unless they did some refurbishment inside.

Superficially the rooms look great, modern styling, etc. Look a picture and you'd probably think it was very nice luxury five star hotel (as it describes itself). However, our room on the 4th floor was awful. It was internal facing and was completely exposed to the three floors of corridors opposite (maybe 6 meters or so away), there being no window shades, only heavy floor to ceiling vertical blinds made the room feel like a cave. There is no bedside, reading or desk lamps - only the main lighting. The toiletries, Gilchrist & Soames, are in dispensers fixed to the wall (as you'd find in a budget hotel). Worst of all was the bed, the mattress was old with individual springs easily felt through through the upper layer. Every time I moved there would be another spring pushing into my ribs...
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Nothing
Bad:
Most things.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Both the Hilton and Crown Plaza are similarly priced so this offers no better value. Unfortunately we checked in late so didn't want to start moving rooms at midnight, had it been earlier I would have insisted we changed. I tried to make a complaint when we checked out, but the front desk staff would no give me the contact details for the manager, but insisted I wait to speak to someone - after 30 minutes of waiting, I asked for someone to call me and left.
After making a complaint, it appears the poor service in endemic at this property. Out of the issues they addressed, the blame was put on myself (the paying customer). Lack of lamps - I should have contacted housekeeping; Uncomfortable bed - I should has requested a firm or soft bed at check in; No Gold Elite benefits - I should have known that their system does not recognise elite status.

Old, carpet fraying with stains, broken central AC but window unit instead - noisy but effective, non functional sleep number beds, I had an extra small fridge but person I was travelling with had a nice mid size fridge, worst thing was the bathroom was filthy and full of dirty towels when I checked in. Old box TVs
What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked executive room on Park Plaza Plus rate, received same as booked although property had "Skysuite level" and wasn't busy.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Late check out but that came as part of package booked. Otherwise, none whatsoever, no recognition of status
How are the rooms?
Soulless. I understand they are in the middle of a refurb and my room had been 'done', athough the TV was still a huge old CRT and there were no pictures or anything else on the walls.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Beds
Canapes from Chino Latino served in "Exec Lounge" - which has been created by roping off a corner of the ground floor close to reception
Front Desk staff pleasant despite lack of recognition/programme knowledge
Bad:
Where to start? Complete lack of attention to detail. Safe not working on check in and not remedied during stay. Telephone not working properly. No cups for nespresso machine. Toiletries a million miles away from the advertised "luxury' ones. No walk in shower as advertised. Housekeeping banging on the door despite DND on door and late check out agreed. Breakfast had the fattiest, greasiest bacon I've ever seen and the hot food counter was at my eye level:eek:. I could go on and on..........

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked executive room on Travelzoo promotion, but was offered an e-standby upgrade to a Whirlpool Suite (highest room category) for €25 per night which I took and received at check-in. This did not relate to my Silver status though.
Did you receive elite benefits?
No. I asked for a late check-out of 2pm and was given this but I got the impression this would have been given regardless of status as they were unlikely to be too busy on a Sunday when I was checking out.
How are the rooms?
I was in the Whirlpool Suite. The main area was one room with a King bed on one side and a small sofa, chair and fairly large table on the other side. There was a swivel LCD TV in the middle. All in good condition. The bathroom was extremely large for European standards, with 2 large sinks and a huge whirlpool bath. No separate shower though as it was in the bath area.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Great bathroom
Large bedroom/living area
Nice buffet breakfast
Front Desk staff pleasant
Bad:
Lack of recognition of silver status (no bottle of water in room).
While I quite liked the location as it was quiet but you could get to the centre easily on tram, some people may be put off by the fact that it is not in the centre.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
On a Travelzoo promotion definitely! It was only €89 per night including breakfast. And an extra €25 per night for the Whirlpool Suite. If price was going towards €150 I would be less likely to return as I could find something else cheaper.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Lexington, New York City, US
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Satisfactory, not very happy so far (still here)
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked petite room, got an eupgrade offer for 0$ that I accepted. I don't think it went through. I sure hope this isn't an upgraded room as I wouldn't want to see the not upgraded room... Seems the hotel is pretty full.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Didn't ask
In-Room Welcome Gift - I got a plastic bag with two water bottles at the reception.
Free breakfast - Yes, after pointing out that I'm entitled to it and insisting on it.
Other - Seem to have free internet (had to enter my CC number, so I guess it's due to being at least a CC member, don't know if it's an elite perk.
How are the rooms?
Old and really tired. By far worst Radisson I've been to. Then again, my experiences are limited to Radisson Blus in Europe.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Free internet and location
Bad:
Rooms
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I don't consider this good value. Would probably not return.

Very satisfied.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room for 2 for 1 rate, 105 Euro for 2 nights, not prepaid. Received an upgrade to suite without asking as well as breakfast (for two).
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Didn't ask - not necessary
In-Room Welcome Gift - There was a free bottle of water and a fruit basket.
Free breakfast - Yes, we would have asked but didn't since it was offered right at the start.
Other - We were also offered a welcome drink by Bruno (one of the receptionists) but didn't take it since we had no time when he offered it.
How are the rooms?
The suite was great and on the sixth floor, nothing I can complain about. Maybe another free bottle for the second night would have been great but nothing to be expected.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Room, upgrade, service attitude, free and fast internet.
Bad: I knew it when I booked it so no complaint here but of course the location could be better. Also, the breakfast is kind of uninspirating, I would expect a little more if I had to pay the regular rate.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Absolutely great money, especially for the 2 for 1 rate. If I had business in the city and it would be somewhat convenient to get there from the hotel, I would definitely return!

Got 20% off the restaurant. Probably should have gotten 15%.
They comped the breakfast (52 euro value). Not sure why, at checking I was told it was not included in my rate.
How are the rooms?
40m2, Shower and bathtub behind wall, two bathroom sinks integrated in room, WC in separate room. Large bed and couches.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
The design of the hotel.
The room.
Great service for everybody, even the maids greet you.
Gold benefits.
The pool and restaurant area.
The weather :)
Bad:
The hotel is a little worn, and there is some lack of attention to details.
Value for money? Would you return?
Great value for 99£+city taxes. Yes, even at a higher rate (atleast up to 180 euro with breakfast).
PS! Some people have complained about the neighbourhood. I didn't mind, but my attitude is you stay where you choose to stay.

This is a decent 4 star hotel and ome of my favourite Radissons. . You can get a lot of 2 for 1 and 4 for 2 nights if you book not to far in advance and it's a tenner to get there in a taxi from the City airport and close to the town centre.

This is a decent 4 star hotel and the alternative would be to stay at the top fancy places like the Taschenberg Palais in Dresden which is way more expensive. So I do return but it certainly is a more medicore hotel compared to other Radisson Blus.

Very good for London - spacious and separate shower in the bathroom. Room had living area with separate TV. Did not see the standard room but expect the studio room is noticeably better. Modern, and although hotel was large and seemed quite full, the room itself was very quiet.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Rooms, location (walkable to Covent Garden, 5 minutes by bus), facilities (swimming pool/sauna/steam room/fitness centre), breakfast (lots of choice, all replaced frequently)
Bad: Slow lifts, slightly weak shower pressure.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No
How are the rooms?
Good size (for London), but in a poor state of repair: wardrobe door was broken, the bath tub chipped, curtain pulls bent and rusted. As seems to be common with Carlson properties, the only lighting is from the ceiling - there are no reading lamps, bedside or desk lights.
It's a lot of style over substance, the room looks impressive when you first enter but after a few hours the faults start to show.
Whilst the website makes a big deal about the view, in reality very few rooms will have a view of anything other that the buildings either side, the railway line behind, or if you are really unlucky an internal facing room.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Two for One rate was great value (£106 inc tax for two nights)
Free wi-fi (when it worked)
10 minutes brisk walk from Westminster
Bad:
Wi-fi only worked occasionally
Front desk staff were terrible. At check in there were three staff, only one of which was actually working.
Check out was worse, I had booked two rooms both on the 241 rate, one in my name and one in Mrs 21H21J's name. When I asked to that rooms were charged separtaely and to each account I was told: I had only one room for one night, I had two rooms for one night, I had paid for one night and used points for the other night. Had it not been for the 50k promo I would have let them mess it up and let Amex sort it out.
No elite recognition (even after I asked then to confirm that the reservation had my CC number and elite status showing).
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
For the price paid on the 241 rate it was great value for London. For the normal rate I would strong advise spending more, staying elsewhere and being less disappointed.

Good:

Booked points and cash - £50 odd and 15000 points was not bad.
Free wi-fi
Well positioned for Tate, Southbank, and Tate a Tate ferry.
Bad:
Trying to think of something....... Sorry - nothing.
Front desk staff were very good, slick and very professional. As there was a long queue of two tour parties, went to the Club Carlson desk and served in less than a minute. Checkout again at Club Carlson desk, again very quick.

Complimentary room upgrade, including lounge access / in-room breakfast.
FD Manager walked us to the room and explained facilities, we had a friendly talk about lounge policy in Radisson vs Hilton, full of winks from her side.
Didn't ask about early check-in / late check out.
How are the rooms?
Nice and large (which is nice in Paris).
However, separation to next room was simply a (locked) door, making it not as soundproof as we'd hoped - we could hear the baby next door crying when in the living room, but it was silent from bedroom. Not much of a problem then.
What was good and what was bad?
Room was good.
Lounge was rather good: small but not overcrowded, nice view over Paris (we could have free drink with a view on the Eiffel tower). Limited choice of food (breakfast and evening snacks), but tasty.
Only "bad experience" was the "one touch service" on the phone, which redirected me to another guest's room (who, shamelessly, refused to bring our breakfast :p) until I unplugged/replugged the phone.

Appeared relatively new building in a quiet location, near a mall with movie theatre, restaurants, Dutch Village.
Easy parking close to our room
Bad:
Indifferent staff, probably due to hotel full of families.
- Value for money or Gold Points?
Paid $89/room+$10/rollaway bed. Good value during peak vacation time.

Good:
Friendly staff
Appealing, comfortable room
Brand new hotel, modern amenities
Very good buffets
Modern, free shuttle bus to/from airport
Bad:

No grounds or pool
Checking out was an affair (poor accounting, coordinating shuttle, etc)

Was as expensive as the Hilton or Sheraton without the amenities, although they were full when we booked so this was all that was available. I'd try for those Big 2 hotels, but would be fine returning.

Good:
Upgrade given. Excellent location half way up the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace (The Queen's residence in Scotland). Haggis and Lorne sausage for breakfast - yummy.
Bad:

Reasonable size, however I was provided a twin room with the mirror removed from the wall, so the room did not look good (behind the mirror a wall with writing and lines all over it)
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Nice style in the foyer, breakfast pretty good
Bad:
The hotel was not aware of my status when it was booked (it was through my corporate travel agent) - so no upgrades were available. The swimming pool area is somewhat tired. The shower facilities in the gym are not clean - tiles need a good scrub and the shower get dispensers are covered in mould.

Booked through corporate travel so only £79 B&B - so good value. Not sure I would return unless I knew I was getting an upgraded room.

Good breakfast and free stuff like parking and free mini bar.
Bad:
I don't think they had a clue I was Concierge (only booked the same day) until I presented the card at check-in. In a place like that (certainly not booked over the weekend), I certainly expect an upgrade (and faster check-in process)

I had asked for early check in as I was arriving in the morning. This was fine, but having gone through the entire check in process, I was told that early check in would be charged as one extra night - but as I was gold they would only charge 50%. After contacting customer services this was rectified and I could also check out late without extra charge. I also had to ask for an upgrade. No welcome gift.
- How are the rooms?
No complaints. Pretty standard business hotel. No visible difference between standard rooms and those on the business floor. The business floor had a lounge with free snacks and drinks though.

It's a very new hotel, opened in January, I believe, so very clean and modern. Ok, but nothing special. Staff was very nice. Nothing bad to say, really.

Gold.
Where did you stay?
Radisson Fallsview, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Generally yes, happy but not thrilled.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard cityview room (lowest rate, no view, no whirlpool, no sleep number bed).
Upgraded to riverview room with whirlpool bathtub and sleep number bed (retail value of $40 more than the room type I booked). Details below in the "rooms" section.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary room upgrade: yes;
Early check in: not required from me;
Late check out: extended from 11am to 2pm;
In-room welcome gift: none.
How are the rooms?
Upon check in, I asked whether there's an upgrade for me, she looked down at her screen and said I was already assigned to an upgraded room.
Room was amazing. Despite being called "riverview", I could actually see some parts of the falls. Room was at a very high floor. Bathtub was a jacuzzi/whirlpool. We checked online and found that the upgraded room usually sells at $40 more than the room type I booked. We were very happy with the room.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: the upgraded room.
Bad (not really "bad" but just something I didn't like but didn't bother me too much either):
1. First of all, this Radisson has a standard check in of 4pm and check out of 11am. 4pm?? 11am?? I called at 3pm on the day of check in and was told that there was no room available for me. So I thought, oh, they were actually serious about the 4pm check in time. And, which hotel checks out at 11am? Who nowadays wakes up that early on a leisure trip? Most hotels I've been to checks in at 2 and checks out at 12 and I thought that's standard practice. When I asked for a late check out they were only willing to give me until 1pm. Later when I stretched it they agreed for a 2pm. I knew for a fact that they didn't have much occupancy the next day because the weather was horrible (the hurricane) and it was a weekday. But they still didn't want to go after 2pm. And during the whole time of talking about check out time they didn't seem to acknowledge my status.
2. No in-room welcome gift. I would have settled for as simple as a bottle of water with a welcome card but there was none.
3. Hotel location is inferior to other major hotels in the area. 70% of the hotel structure is blocked by a Marriott from directly seeing the falls, and the parts that do see the falls, only see the falls from a very side angle.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Pretty good value considering the upgraded room.
May or may not return depending on what promotions they are running at the time.

How are the rooms?
The size of the room was okay, I assume the standard rooms are tiny. The bathroom was very small but nice. The bed was fantastic and probably the best bed I have slept in at a Radisson. Also, I liked that the room had some individual NL style with a stair within the room, fancy roof window, etc.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Nice room, the upgrade, great location, nice lobby
Bad:
Most of the employees had no clue about CC elite benefits, the denied late check-out, value for breakfast if you had to pay for it (25 EUR for a rather poor buffet), the hallway and atmosphere towards the rooms are horrible, once you get in, it's fine

Yes.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, did a paid upgrade to junior suite including breakfast and minibar :)
Did you receive elite benefits?
Upgrade
Asked for a upgrade (since I was planning to further upgrade to junior suite) and was clearly told that upgrade policy for Gold was "Best available room in category" which basicly means a high floor.
Early Check In/Late Check Out
Request late check out (15:00) in advanced, and got it confirmed. Not sure if my Gold status played a part.
In-Room Welcome Gift
NA, as there was a free minibar in my paid upgrade, but I don't think I would have received anything if I hadn't upgraded.
How are the rooms?
The junior suite is big (50m2+) with a nice interior, bathroom had both shower and bathtub and decent amenities.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: The breakfast was great (typical selection of food for a 4 star, but very good prepared (crisp bacon, beans that didn't look like they just came out a box). Eggs made on order if requested.
Bad: The upgrade policy is not very elite friendly.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, if I need to stay a night near Schiphol. Since you have to use the shuttle to Schiphol and then the train to Amsterdam the location is not good for going into the city.

I'm sorry for breaking the pattern here a bit, but I have a few stays I haven't posted here.
As can be seen from before, I'm a Concierge (one stay from requalifying, yay!) and have been staying at Radisson Blu Plaza in Helsinki, Radisson Blu Olümpia in Tallinn, Radisson Blu Scandinavia in Copenhagen and Radisson Blu Waterfront in Stockholm on both corporate rates and cash+points. Always Business Class, always in-room gift (very varied, from a single water bottle in Tallinn to full exotic fruit basket + chocolates in Stockholm), and except for Copenhagen Business Class perks (i.e. movies) included. In Copenhagen they for some reason tried to charge one breakfast out of two. Otherwise Concierge breakfast has been well respected.
Best stay absolutely in Stockholm where they were very service-minded and recognized my status whenever possible (reception, breakfast, dinner).

Booked standard, on a 2 nights for price of one basis. So £46 a night. Enquired about upgrade and very charming desk clerk immediately said that they had two suites with harbour view free, so I would be upgraded to one of them.
Did you receive elite benefits?

How are the rooms?
Immaculate, huge suite with bedroom and sitting room, large bathroom and an additional "guest" lavatory. All very swish with two TVs, etc etc.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Hotel is well situated, very comfortable, and very good room.
Very good - England 38, New Zealand 21.
Bad: Cant think of anything.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, like a shot.
Side note: I have had consistent, very good experience with Radisson Blu - comfortable hotels, good record on upgrades. But variable experience with Park Plaza - some very good, some poor. Interesting to see how two chains in the same group can be so different.

Stay was cash+points. Very pleased with holel quality and service. location was excellent, right at the border between the business district and the cbd shopping district. many good restaurants in the area. Lots of 24 hour mini-marts in area. Less than 10 minute walk to circular quay.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked king atrium room (only room type offered for cash+points). I checked the room and returned to reception and asked for a room with OUTSIDE facing windows. Was given a very nice high floor king room with balcony.

- Were you happy with the hotel/stay? Yes.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Business-friendly. No upgrade available as hotel was full. (Which is why I booked business-friendly.)
- Did you receive elite benefits?
I got a welcome letter and a bottle of water daily.
I got a late check out, though they tried to bill me for it before I pointed out my Gold status.
Note: Room rate included breakfast buffet and WiFi.
- How are the rooms?
New, modern, clean, appealing. My room was spacious, with a nice sofa and table for relaxing. The basic room I saw into looked small.
- What was good and what was bad?
Friendly, attentive staff.
Reliable WiFi.
Convenient location to Convention Center.
Rooftop bar with nice view of Table Mt.
Decent food at acceptable prices. Breakfast buffet had many hot and cold offerings include made-to-order eggs.
Mercedes car service.
Discount passes to Virgin Active Health Club pool. This was instead of the tiny but adequate gym and the water feature they call a "splash pool". Maybe some children use it in the summer but otherwise it's a waste of water.
- Value for money or Gold Points?
I was very pleased with the stay for what I paid; it was half the price of the convention center Westin, where the food wasn't really that much better and my colleagues said the WiFi was unreliable.

I usually stay at PP Soi 18 but occasionally here and there's always multiple small problems.

Booked standard initially received standard. Was told they could put me in a 'better' room on a smoking floor. No thanks.

Early Check In/Late Check Out - N/A

How are the rooms?
The standard room was looking worn but whatever, it was fine, except for the a/c which was making a high pitch whine. Maintenance sprayed lubricant and left which left me in a room with a high pitch whine smelling from lubricant. Long story short was put into a Business studio, basically the studio deluxe with 'better' coffee and more water. I'm now remembering that it's not my favorite room because: 1) when in the sitting area it gets super cold because the thermostat is in the bedroom 2) these rooms (and some of the 1 bedrooms) have awful wifi and today, 3) the audio/video/pc/HDMI/USB plug are inoperable (in this particular room).**
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
While checking in at 2PM they didn't have any rooms ready. The woman helping me, who was very nice, escorted me to the bar/lounge and offered a drinkn on the house. Choices included alcohol.
Bad:
It took a while to get my room and then it took a while to get a new room. Poor wifi in the room. Poor temp control. Auxiliary inputs inop. In sitting area/wet bar/entry room there is only 1 outlet.
From the piddly complaint department: having finished construction a few months ago on the entry way they are now working on the checkin area resulting in a very diminished space.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Was on a C&P booking and the rooms are of decent value without the myriad little hassles.
**I'm not even bothering saying anything to management until I leave tomorrow. It just won't be useful....

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Overall yes, but not delighted
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Have stayed twice recently:
1st time Booked standard got standard, although after the fuss about charging for breakfast (see below) they offered to upgrade my room but I declined as I didn't think it was worth re-packing all my stuff for one more night.
2nd time Booked standard got upgraded to Business Class. Room was same size but more sumptuously decorated with a Nespresso machine in room, a turn-down service at night with a chocolate left on the bed. Also access to Business Class lounge with free snacks and drinks in the evening.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No first time, yes second time
Complimentary Breakfast - No, despite the reception desk confirming my Concierge Status on the system on both arrivals. On first stay they tried to charge me at breakfast on the first morning. I went to reception where the receptionist hadn't a clue and said she recognised I was Concierge but my rate excluded breakfast. Luckily a manager passed as I was showing the receptionist my Carlson Club card and the manager said "Oooh that's Concierge, the highest level. You are entitled to free breakfast and room upgrade" I declined the upgrade.
On my second stay (a week later) no attempt to charge at breakfast, which I took as a good sign. But when I came to check out the rate I had booked at had been increased (without notifying me) so that it included breakfast!!! When I explained the concept of "free breakfast" they then agreed to adjust the bill (which took forever).
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No, nothing.
How are the rooms?
Good. reasonable size, comfortable and very clean. Not really much difference from Standard room to Business Class room apart from access to Business class lounge.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Comfortable hotel with choice of dining options. Liked the steakhouse (Al Tajin) and the poolside bar (Lazy Lizard). Handy for working in the Ministries district.
Bad: Draught beer in the Irish themed bar tasted of cleaning fluid all the time  Not a great location for leisure stays as it is not near a beach.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Fairly good value for money at weekends but only reasonable mid week as it is obviously a business hotel. Am returning for a couple of nights in about a week to see if they really have got the concept of "free breakfast" ;)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received deluxe. On second stay the receptionist even mentioned my Gold status. The deluxe is a little bit bigger than then standard.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift – Maybe, one bottle of water, but not sure this was because of my status.
How are the rooms?
Good size, all basic amenities, nice décor. Everything you want of an airport hotel stay.
What was good and what was bad?
Received one of two connecting room on second stay, the door was not well isolated and you could hear the TV and conversations from the other room.
Ordered full dinner roomservice on one of the stays, the food was both good and reasonable priced.
The free local buses to T1, T2 and T3 depart very frequent (3 lines), but there’s (AFAIK) only one line to T5 which passes every 20/30 minute depending on time of day.
The building does not have very good thermal isolation so if you want to avoid freezing in the winter you must blast the AC to max temperature and speed.
The breakfast is good.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?

In-Room Welcome Gift – Not a typical gift. The elite package or list of perks was a full page of stuff that they gave us at check-in. We were of course allowed to use the roof top lounge, we got two bottles of water from the mini bar each day, ....
How are the rooms?
The shape of the entrance area was rather bizarre. The suite has a very nice living room with a comfortable sitting area. The TVs in both rooms were rather small, the bed was awesome and probably the best I ever slept in. My friend even wrote to the hotel afterwards and asked for the model. The bathroom was dissapointing, very small. Also, in a suite I expect to have two toilets, not just one.
What was good and what was bad?
All staff was very friendly and accomodating. Description of the room above.
The breakfast was really dissapointing, especially for that kind of a hotel. First morning we had it in the lounge that is a little more cozy but with a very limited choice. Downstairs, it is a zoo and the food wasn't really anything to write home about either.
I expect a pool for such a hotel which they don't have.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes. Maybe. I would never pay for the hotel with money though, it is way overpriced....

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Martinique Club Level initially, received executive room. I'm not sure if that's really an upgrade as I paid for a upgrade to queen suite (20$/night). Did not receive discount on upgrade.

In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, cake in all rooms. Got drink vouchers for all rooms aswell, not sure if thats in the rate or because of status.
How are the rooms?
We all stayed in suites. The king/queen suits are two rooms seperated by double door. I would guess 30m2-45m2. The rooms are carpetted and haven't been renovated in a while. In my room the wardrobe door was broken. Acceptable bathroom size for NYC hotels (3,5m2).
The third room was the penthouse suite, which in itself is not very impressive, but the atrium with a direct view to Empire State building is a redeeming feature. The Penthouse is exposed to noise from the elevators. Would never pay anything near the full rate for the penthouse.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Good rate, decent room, good enough breakfast (15$ value) in one of the restaurants, good WiFi.
Bad:
Nothing in particular, but the in my opinion the hotel is a 3.5 star hotel so adjust your expectation based on that.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, but very rate dependant.

- Where did you stay?
Park Plaza Orchid, Tel Aviv, IL
- Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
I feel I got a fair value for what I paid, but I now wish I'd have spent more to stay at a nicer hotel.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Basic Single, received Superior with (partial) sea view.
Also received free breakfast and access to Executive Lounge.
- Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade: Yes
Late Check Out: No (claimed hotel was full)
In-Room Welcome Gift: Personalized welcome letter and bottle of water
- How are the rooms? Small but adequate for one person, slightly upscale but otherwise basic
- What was good and what was bad?
Good: generous free amenities (free WiFi, international calls, bikes, business center, etc), nice location near the beaches, decent hot breakfast buffet with omelette station, small but decent lounge, both with nice sea views.
Bad: Bed had seen better days.
- Value for money or Gold Points?
Overall, they bill themselves as 4*, perhaps because of the amenities, but it is more like 3* compared to a true 4* like the Sheraton up the road. That being said, thanks to the upgrades I feel I got fair value for what I paid compared to what the Sheraton was charging.
Would you return? Depends on my travel budget. If I had the money I'd go to the Sheraton. It was okay but not a place to be stuck for 3 days of bad weather.

Complimentary Room Upgrade:

Early Check In/Late Check Out:
Yes 11:30AM was allowed
In-Room Welcome Gift:
Not initially (I assume due to early check-in), but when I came back from dinner, they had left a printed letter and some fruit. Although, no chocolate in Brussels!?
How are the rooms?
Nothing special, but at least up-to-date and with the normal Park Inn colorfulness.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Hotel is in a great location, with a major train station directly across the street
- This hotel seems to have processes and consistency around recognizing elite status
- Free internet
Bad:
- Free internet is way too slow. I had some work to do so I upgraded to the "Premium" connection for 7eur/day which allows you 4 devices and averaging around 8Mbps. Not exactly fast, either, but enough I guess.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Great value, booked 4for2 rate for around 200 EUR. Can't beat 50 eur/night in the heart of Brussels.

How are the rooms?
Modern Park Inn styling - very bright. Rooms in the back have a view over a typical swiss village (Estevayer-le-Lac) which is nice when it's not foggy
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Breakfast is good and included in rate
- Italian restaurant and convienence shop in same building
Bad:
- WiFi is expensive (Swisscom)
- It *is* at a highway rest stop, which is a random place for one of the only 3 club carlson hotels in Switzerland. No alcohol sold, but you can get some at grocery stores nearby. That being said, it's quiet and comfortable, and I think it's a lot better than the hotels I've tried in the city of Fribourg.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Great value at 125 CHF/night, which is much less than other hotels in the area. If you're visiting Fribourg, it can cost about the same or even less to book this hotel and get a rental car than it would be to only use public transport and stay in the city.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room. At check-in, they said I'd been upgraded to a Business Class room. I asked if a suite was available and they said yes, but the room they gave me was business class  Maybe a language barrier.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes, to Business
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Didn't need it
In-Room Welcome Gift - No
How are the rooms?
The rooms come in 3 different types: Maritime, Italian, Scandinavian. I didn't get asked what type I'd like, but ended up with Maritime. Looked a bit like a big cruise ship stateroom. Decor felt slightly aged, but not too old. Rooms are pretty comfortable. Business Class rooms have tub and shower, and they even include bath salts.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Breakfast was given as part of upgrade, and it's AMAZING.
- Free WiFi
- Very friendly staff! Gave me tips on places to eat, and what to do with the few hours I had in Warsaw
Bad:
- I wanted to just change some euros to Zloty, but the hotel charges a 15% commission on top of a bad rate.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard and received Business Class. I asked if they had anything else, they offered a junior suite for 70 euro/night. They were actually rude about it when I asked if they'd do it for free. I didn't mind being told no, but the negative attitude ("why would we give this for free??" as if I were stupid) caught me off guard.
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Early check in (12pm)
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, shortly after arrival (selection of small pastries and an Apple), and every evening they came by with a chocolate bar. I didn't really understand what was going on at first, on the first night a guy who didn't speak English and wasn't wearing a nametag/uniform came by and handed me a chocolate bar without a word. The second night, I finally saw he had a printout of names and a handful of chocolate bars, so they must do it for elites (or everyone?).
How are the rooms?
The rooms are gorgeous, very modern, and brand new.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Rooms
- Restaurant
- Breakfast is incredible (very large selection)
- 2 complimentary bottles of water/day
- Small Chocolate Bar every night
Bad:
- Location (unless you need to be on the Asian side). It's about 100 TL for Taxi to IST airport.
- Staff: not very warm or helpful, which is very atypical of my other experiences in Turkey
- We had a fire alarm within 30 minutes of my check in. The staff outside didn't say a word and just all filed back inside after 15 minutes. The staff had a small quasi-attached building to the side of the hotel, which is where they went. No one told the guests how to get back inside the hotel building, since the fire exit doors only allowed people to get out. We were on the opposite side of the building to the entrace and didn't seem like a logical way to get around with fences and such blocking the way.

Bosphorus on the European side is in a better location and the staff is so much better there. It was fully booked this week though. In that case, this hotel was a good deal for the quality of the hard product...

And in our room there was a bottle of wine, 2 jars of chocolate and a note from the manager.
I was very pleased with my stay there, would definitely consider staying again if I have an early flight out/late flight in.

Booked 1 Queen bed - Non-smoking - City View Club Carlson-Points+Cash-Superior Room . Received same room type on business floor.

- How are the rooms?
Room and hallways were clean but scratched and dinged. King bedded room was spacious. Linens and bed were very good. Shower stall leaked water all over the bathroom floor, a common problem in hotel bathrooms.
- What was good and what was bad?
Service from staff was very good. Hotel restaurant buffet breakfast and dinner were good. Hotel needs some refurbishment of rooms and hallways. Outside entrance area was terrible. Hotel needs to create a more welcoming area, even though there is much construction around the entrance. Could use a big colorful awning and outdoor mats placed around entrance.

NICE! I stayed as CCC a year ago here and got nothing. Had to whine and point to CC rules for free breakfast. Good to see there's been improvement!

I did actually email them beforehand as I wanted to ensure that my 4 for 2 booking starting on the Wednesday was added to my separate booking for the Tuesday so as to avoid a change of room and mentioned I was Concierge and could I have a suite and they said yes. I did the same thing with the hotel in Bergen I'm staying in this weekend and thy are giving me a suite as well.

The location of the hotel is right beside the Bryggen - the UNESCO World Heritage site and the airport bus starts/finishes outside door.

Good - Great design (recently completely refurbished)
Good - super central and well connected, and right in a big park
Bad - a lot of towels and stuff lying around in Sauna/Steam room area (left by previous users)

How are the rooms?
Decent size, but old style dark wood
What was good and what was bad
Good:
On the bus route from the airport - the stop on arrival is just round the corner, the bus stop back to the airport is immediately outside the door
Friendly staff
2 flat screen tvs
Bad:
Wifi keeps dropping in the upper rooms
Old fashioned 'grand hotel' lots of dark wood and marble - not the usual Radisson Blu chic modern style
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Excellent value got a weekend extend so two night stay cost me 300 złoty (£61). This and the fact you don't need to get a taxi from airport would make me return although the other Radisson in the centre is probably more my style.

In-Room Welcome - Yes, a slice of welcome cake delivered a few hours after check in
How are the rooms?
Good size for NYC. A/c control was funky. Bathroom good size.
What was good and what was bad
Good:
Check in staff indifferent until realizing I was Gold. When I gave my CC cc he thought it was simply my Gold card and asked for a cc. A Monty Python skit could have ensued... Was issued 2x drink tix per night at the bar and 2x breakfast coupons at the associated resto which backs onto 33rd St. Looking out our window afforded a strained neck view of the Empire State Building less than 100m away.
Bad:
Elevators were sporadically awful; at one point I waited 7 minutes in the lobby. Executive floor is comprised of rooms and a large space of old red couches with an occasional table. A real lounge with simple beverages would be nice. Alternatively strike the Executive Lounge label.
Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
For 50K points and 2 nights (with the cc) this was great value. Not having to trek back to LI for the night and hanging out for drinks post dinner with friends and family was worth every point. Proximal to the Empire State Building, main library branch at 5th/42nd, Bryant Park, Grand Central Station, Times Square, the theater district (although not my cup of tea), a host of jazz venues etc.

What was good and what was bad
Good:
View of Wawel Castle from window

Five minute walk from the old town
Bad:
All minor:
Wifi dropped from time to time
No bedside plugs to charge phone overnight
TV old grundigs - could have done with flat screen

- Where did you stay? Radisson Blu ZRH Airport, Zurich, CH
- Were you happy with the hotel/stay? Yes
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Traditional -> Business
- Did you receive elite benefits?
Gold: Complimentary Room Upgrade: yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out: yes/not applicable
In-Room Welcome Gift: Chocolate bar and free snacks and non-alcohol drinks from minibar.
Note: I also received Free Buffet Breakfast, I assume as part of the room upgrade. Hotel offers free WiFi.
- How are the rooms? Typical RBlu stylish modern room. Bed was comfortable. Despite overlooking one of the airport access roads and beyond that a runway, the soundproofing was so good I could barely hear anything from outside. Despite the hotel hosting a conference in the atrium, overall a very quiet, peaceful stay.
- What was good and what was bad? I had no bad experiences. Staff was friendly and helpful, facilities were clean and functional, food was good, b'fast buffet was extensive.
- Value for money? Would you return? Taking into account the upgrade the price was fair for the quality and location. I paid that price because I wanted to be at the airport to eliminate hassles of an overnight transit in ZRH. If I had to transit/take an early flight again I would stay here again.

Stay: Split Croatia
Very happy with stay
Booked standard room with points as credit card holder 2nd night free
Received Ocean view Jr Suite
Fruit basket and bottle of wine sent to room
Breakfast buffet is included in the rate and was excellent
The room was excellent soaking tub and walk-in shower. Great deck with ocean view.
The staff did not recognize Club Carlson Concierge card when I arrived at check-in. I showed them the card and they seemed to have no idea about it. I pointed to the mouse pad on the check-in desk which shows the levels and the benefits.
Calls and visits to the back office ensued. Ultimately they gave me this suite, but without bringing it to the attention of staff I probably would have got nothing.
Three hours after check-in I called as to my missing welcome gift. A little while later the fruit and wine appeared.
If you have status be proactive as they don't seem to know anything.

[B]Same problem as my stay in Split as listed above[B]
The staff at front desk insisted that I would not get an upgrade but I rejected 2 rooms shown to me, and they finally called some higher up who assigned us the lovely suite. As above insist on recognition as they have no clue.
