SAS EuroBonus - Confused about AVIS promotion
Is the incremental promotion still in force? And does one still get 500 extra bonus points? I had about 5 rentals with Avis last month, so it makes quite a big difference in points to me.
The SAS website says:
http://www.flysas.com/en/EuroBonus/Earn-points/transportation/Avis/
but then it links to terms on Avis site:
http://www.avis.no/EuroBonus-GB
which says that the promotion was valid until late January, and only in Europe.
Now I just got 1000 miles credited for one of my rentals (does not even seem to be for the first one -- the entry in the accound is unspecific).
It is more than the non-promotional 500 miles. So is the promotion still in force? It is incredible how unprofessional all the info and execution of crediting the points is.

From what I know the frequence bonus should still be valid
but the 500 extra points is not, so
1st Rental: 500 bonus points
2nd Rental: 1000 bonus points
3rd Rental: 1500 bonus points
4th Rental 2000 bonus points
Unless you have used a SAS AWD you won't get more than 500
but even if you have done that, you might not get more than 500 because
AVIS IT sucks more than SAS

I did use the SAS AWD on all of my rentals, and got credited 1000 EB points with the date of my third rental. So this fits neither of the possible scenrios (no increment-no bonus, increment-no bonus, increment-bonus).
I also did retroclaim for the first of my rentals, and the answer came today that they already forwarded the contract data to SAS, and they are very sorry that my rental is not legible for points. How come it can be not legible for points if I booked online normal rate with SAS AWD? Should I wait longer until Eurobonus credits this, or should I complain to SAS? Or is it possible that 1000 EB points appeared on my account for this retro claim (it happened on the same day), but with a wrong date?

It is a common problem with Avis' promotions, you get the
base points but not the promotional points, retroclaim with standard form online won't work.
You need to contact Avis, which is a very frustrating process because
Avis local offices usually won't have a clue but in their turn need to contact Avis HQ in Europe.
read this lenghty thread with frustrating comments ;)

Is this bad crediting experience consistent across all major car rentals, or is it Avis specific? (often times prices are very close, so I could optimize hassle, by choosing a reliable service, instead of better promotions)

Sixt: not rented so often from but points have always credited fast
and the only time there was a problem customer service fixed it within
a couple of days.
Hertz: very often you don't get any points at well, eg preapid rates are almost never qualifying.
Avis: tend to have the best offers but be prepared to fight for the points,
in the end of the day you usually get them.
