San Francisco - SFO: access between piers E and F in Terminal 3

We're flying First Class domestic on United out of SFO, and at least today the flight leaves from Terminal 3, Concourse F. We realize flying FC domestic won't get us into a United Club, but our Am Ex Platinum Cards would get us into the AA Admirals Club in Pier E. If we go through security for the United flight, is it easy to walk over to Pier E to access the club (across from Gate 62) and then back for our flight? Am Ex Web site says Platinum Cards not got in United Clubs (just AA, Delta and US Airways).

The above location for the AA Club is what I got from the Am Ex Web site. The AA site lists the club's location as after Security, Terminal 2 (T2), Boarding Area D. It appears the Am Ex info is out of date and the AA info current, so excuse the erroneous title: it apparently should be from Pier D (Terminal 2) to Pier F (Terminal 3). Looks more complicated, if not impossible. Other option using our Am Ex cards is the Delta Sky Club "Mezzanine level at the ticket counter." We could hopefully at least use that club and then go through security for Terminal 3 to board our flight.

AA is in the D pier (Gates 50-59). There is no airside connection to E (closed for renovations, and former location of AA) F or G. Or for that matter, any other pier.

If you end up with a fair amount of time, the Int'l G gate area is very nice, and all airside with the UA gates (unless you get stuck at a T-1 UA temporary gate.)

Don't you need to have a same-day ticket on the airline to which the Club belongs, in order to gain access via Amex Plat?

Yes, except for USAir, unless the admittance is through Priority Club.
