EL AL Matmid - Israeli Corporate Changing Policy to J

Mrs. NYTA, who works at a very large Israeli company based in TLV, told me that the company recently changed its travel policy to allow employees traveling from TLV to the USA to do so in J.

Considering how many Israeli companies have historically made employees travel abroad in Y, it will be interesting to see what the effect will be on LY and the rest of the market with more paid J passengers and if it will catch on for other Israeli corporates as well...

Thoughts from the group?

It's just one Israeli company, why would it impact any others?

I'd love to know which company and under what circumstances. The market for IT talent is heating up. Maybe this is related.

Because it is one of the larger Israeli companies that I'm sure has a lot of travelers and could therefore start setting a trend with other large Israeli companies.

Well...

with LH and BA going narrow body to TLV...would there be any available tickets for their employees?

"Oooo...we wanted to buy you J...but no seats available..." :)

There are a number of Israeli companies and american subsidiaries of Israeli companies which allow employees to fly J. However, it depends on your "Rank" - are you saying that all employees of said company can now fly J to the USA? And if so, is it only on El Al?

Not sure - I'll have to ask Mrs. NYTA down to what level it goes, but she did say it was a recent policy change and she isn't all that high ranking so I imagine it goes down pretty far. I know a few companies where the CEO flies J and the CFO can fly J every other time or something like that, but most of the others fly Y. I was once on a flight with my family where we all got Op'ed-up on KL and one of her higher ranking colleagues was in back. "fadichot".

That's a serious downgrade for TLV. I am surprised.

Almost any big corporate allow employs to fly business if they fit to specific declaration
this has been like that for years... If you are considered a Road Warrior or you do more than x hours a month its not an issue.

Remember, J (ex W) is not an easy ticket to get due to time limit, advanced booking and etc... and worse, its Economy points! 8-)

I think the OP was referring to J in general as business, not the fare class. On some airline forums J is referenced as business.

Welcome back to life!

How's the US?

US is good to me in the personal life, much calm, less flights, more family...
Regarding Myself & Flights, I will compare it to a married guy that just got divorced after 15 years of blind loyalty... (Means he will jump on every opportunity he will have with different women...)

So i manage to do Air-France, Alitalia, BA, United, Delta, Virgin America, LH
In International flights... To Discover Economy Comfort and Business / First
at other companies... and Discovered America!
New Planes, Less Noise, Better Seats, Much Better Seats, Amazing Service (even when you are anonymous without any FF level) - Very different from EL-AL...

But still, I like EL-AL, Its my Ex-Wife..., And i would go back to it when i will have a chance.... Although i see that they are getting lower and lower, GL no more worth as before, PLs as well (i am still a TPL), I see many new faces when i fly, Some try to do the best, Some try to do the worse...

Not to mention prices.... 3600$ Business in DL to IL, 4900 to 5400$ in LY...

I feel sad for EL-AL and for the loyal customers...
