Club Carlson - Confusin Cancellation Policy

Hi FT,

I need to cancel a points booking. Cancellation policy on the reservation says:

Cancellation Policy

Penalty applies to all cancellations.
Cancel today thru Oct 30 2012 = 0.00 AUD.
Cancel Oct 31 2012 thru Dec 30 2012 = 0.00 AUD.

Late cancellations will result in a penalty of first night's Gold Points®. Failure to cancel this reservation will result in a penalty of all Gold Points® for entire stay.

It doesn't say anything about the points but says that a penalty applies to all cancellations. Is $0 in their mind also a penalty or am I reading something wrong?

ADVANCE PAYMENT REQUIRED. DEPOSIT OF FULL STAY DUE 7 DAY(S) AFTER BOOKING. ADVANCE PAYMENT OF 1 NIGHT(S) IS NON-REFUNDABLE. CANCEL 60-0 DAY(S) PRIOR TO ARRIVAL = FORFEIT 100% OF FULL STAY
WHEN PAYING BY CREDIT CARD A 2% SURCHARGE WILL APPLY.

What is the property that charges 100% of the entire stay if you cancel within two months of arrival? I'm not aware of any exclusive Carlson resorts in Australia. Also, it's unclear whether trip insurance covers points and miles bookings.

It's the Radisson Blu Sydney over New Years Eve.

Well, I guess since I can not be there I have no option other than cancel the booking and see what happens. I will report back!

PS: Cancelled. They kept the points for one night. Bummer, but given the recent Club Carlson points flood no big deal.
