Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Will CX Check my Bags All The Way Through?

Hi I know all these airlines have interline agreements but am flying BKK-HKG-SIN-DXB-ZRH-IAD on CX from BKK-HKG to start then onto a Star Alliance award ticket. Will CX check my bags all the way to IAD or do they have a limit on how many stops they will check to?

Personally I'd check it to HK and then from there as you have a new ticket on *A, recheck it from there. If you have *G, you won't get priority baggage from BKK as you're on OW and I know none ting airlines are not obligated to retag your bag.

Logistically, you can connect thru 4 cities. Thn you'll have another baggage tag. But realistically, it's better to keep everything within one alliance. Note that CX will limit to weight allowance and not piece as you only have BKK to HKG on this ticket.

While I believe that CX interlines with most if not all *A members, you did not tell us which exact carriers you will be on, so cannot check.

To be more precise, OP can only have 4 segments in a bag tag, and OP has5 now, so agree with Guy Betsy's suggestion about re-checking it in HKG.

I actually think I will just check my bags to SIN. I only have 4 hour layover in HKG before switching to SQ in SIN for the Star Alliance portion and in SIN I have a 10 hour layover. I have no doubt CX would check my luggage to SIN with SQ even on separate tickets. I am sure they do that transfer all the time and with the zillion number of airlines that are in HKG when the bag switch happens, that I am sure it is seamless as it occurs all the time and at one of the most well run airports in the world.

Indeed. No problem.

CX-160 CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS/CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS LTD

MAY ISSUE TICKETS INCLUDING
SQ-618 SINGAPORE AIRLINES/SINGAPORE AIRLINES LIMITED

MAY CHECK BAGGAGE TO
SQ

However, I believe a 4-hour layover in HKG is more than enough time to recheck bags, too, if you have the documentation to enter HKSAR.
