U.K. and Ireland - Help me choose among these London hotels

My husband, son (age 6) and I will be heading to London in November. Husband has some work to do while son and I sightsee. His firm gives a list of hotels from which to choose (corporate rate) and I've narrowed it down to these 6. If you could help me narrow the list further, that would be great.

1. Le Meridien. Great location, plus health club and pool.
2. Langham. Gym, pool, free wifi in business center.
3. Metropolitan. Offers a "Met Pod" so we can get there early and sleep before checkin. Looks like a smallllll gym.
4. Grosvenor House. Gym but no pool.
5. St. Martin's Lane. Gym, no pool.
6. The Athenaeum. Maybe a kitchen? No gym or pool.

As we have the six-year-old, anything with a pool moves to the top of the list. Fitness centers are a plus too. Our flight is overnight from JFK, arriving Heathrow around 9:00 a.m., so if there's a hotel that might offer early checkin, that would be a plus as well.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

The Langham is nice and is just around the corner from Oxford Street. The good thing is that despite its location, not as many cars go past it as say Le Meridien (around the corner from Piccadilly circus).

If you are after Internet access while you here, 3 UK do some cheap pay as you go deals for your smartphone or USB dongle.

I've stayed in all of these except the Langham and the Metropolitan. I've had a drink in the Langham and would consider staying there in the future. I'd happily go back to ones I have stayed at other than St Martin's Lane which for me was a bit too trendy! The Grosvenor House in Park Lane may be a little far from the Tube Stations to walk on a frequent basis with a six year old - from memory Hyde Park Tube is around a 10 minute walk and Marble Arch about the same. Le Meridien and the Langham are very central with tube stations nearby and would be my choices. Sorry can't help regarding the pool/gym in any of these but as its central London expect them to be on the small side.

I haven't stayed there in a number of years, but my recollection is that the Meridien has a large, impressive pool. The gym is large, too, though I think it is in the basement and windowless. Rooms vary significantly. You could be lucky. Or not.
I have not stayed at the Athenaeum since the redo, but I used to love being there. Unclear to me whether you are talking about an apartment there (with kitchen) or room (without). Some really gorgeous park views from the rooms--the one apartment I had there had only a street view. It's roughly equidistant from two tube stations, but lots of bus options.
Have not stayed at the others.

There are surprisingly few mid-range London hotels with pools. The Meridien is the one that was recommended to me when I asked once.

The Langham is likely by far to be the 'nicest' hotel due to the monster refurbishment it had recently.

Thanks for the feedback. We are going to try Le Meridien for this trip. My son's first trip to London!

Some of The Grange hotels (like St Paul's) have pools, whilst lower down the scale the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury does, as does the hilton Metropole.

The number may be small, but they are around in most price brackets if you look hard enough.

I think generally you'll be happy. If you can, book a higher class of room than the basic (I think they have 3 classes of standard non-suite rooms). The location is very very convenient. The pool is pretty nice (though it's in the basement with no natural light, as I suspect most pools in central London hotels are).

My old company had a corporate deal with (among others) the Athaneum. The regular rooms were really really small, but well-appointed. The apartments are presumably bigger but more expensive.
