This has happened three times in the last month.
I have had various different reservations that I made at the new Hyatt Place Riverside, CA. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy, which is always shown in my confirmation email.
On three separate occasions now, I have had a reservation that I cancelled before the 24 hour period and I receive my automatic cancellation email from Hyatt, which clearly shows the time I cancelled the reservation.
BUT my credit card is charged a few days later for one night of a stay that I have already properly cancelled. This is really annoying because I have to call the hotel and no one at the FD is able to help. I have to wait for the GM to get in contact with me to try to fix. Also, it screws up my company credit card accounting, as I have to explain it the the controller each time. Just a real headache and a waste of time.
They obviously (hotel and/or Hyatt) have some software issue that is causing this to happen as I would hate to think the property is doing it on purpose.
Some people might not look at their statements that closely and would be paying for a room they did not get (not to mention no points or stay credits for it being a no-show)! :)
