Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - New C seats on LH and OS in July 2013

I am currently trying to block some award seats in C to Asia in summer 2013. I am getting LH to HKG either 747-400 (FRA) or 340-600 (MUC). Where's the better chance for the new seats ? I assume the 747-400's may not even be updated at all ?

On the return I am getting OS from BKK. It's a 777-200. The press release said they will have updated all aircraft with the new seats by April 2013. Is that still the plan ?

I really don't want to end up with old LH or OS seats - grateful for any advice.

Fly on LX.

that would have been my preference...but no award availability, unfortunately. I am looking for 4 seats, so not optimistic rgd LX.

Not any time soon though they may be fitted on 2-class 744s first.

Depends on the class, route and FFP miles used.

thanks. As for LX looking at HKG or BKK July 2013. LH is already bookable.

To answer my own question, spoke to a nice lady at the SEN hotline. LX flights are loaded 340 days prior departure, thus they will show a few weeks after LH and OS. Of course that's just when they are initially loaded, availability may vary.

OS will start the update by end of this year (latest by December) and will finish by April 2013. The schedule was not changed so far. I think they should stay in time if I compare the update of the NEK seats. This was also done on schedule.

The new OS C seat will be very similar to the current LX C seat and will definitly be better than the new LH seat. So if you should not be able to book with LX (as they have limited award tickets) I would go with OS as the food is also a plus compared to LH C.

Thanks. That sounds encouraging. I've always liked OS, but they need to upgrade the seats before I try again. I agree the new seat will be good. I was just concerned they may push the dates due to cost saving projects. But it appears July or August 2013 should be safe.
