guys
i need to book a nov 15-29 ticket from JFK/EWR to BOM. I'm not going to know the exact date till early nov itself and was wondering how easy or tough it is to get award tickets for this time period. From what I know, the peak season towards India starts Dec 10 and travel is quite light in Nov. Anybody got experience booking same month awards in Nov?
I hold miles on AA, BA, DELTA
Thanks

DL tends to frequently release award space very late, within a week or two of the flight. However, depending on loads, they might not....

Do they release it for a decent number of miles? So far, I'm only seeing one-way business for 160k and above, a far cry from the standard 67.5k

Note that DL does not really give one way award tickets. You pay the same number of miles for one way or RT, depending of course on low/medium/high levels.

What other carriers only do return round trip award tickets ONLY? How about avios?

It sounds like you have specific requirements. So, my suggestion is that upi study the programme rules with SkyMiles, Executive Club and AAdvantage to see if your specific requirements can be met. Obviously you would have found the answers by now if you looked on each programme's website.
The best bet might be booking with a programme that does not charge for date/time changes now when you find availability. This way you can at least get there if the dates are off a little. I think DL charges $150, BA $40 and AA is free for date/time changes.
Another thing to consider are last minute booking fees. I think DL is free, BA is free and AA charges a fee.
Again, review the rules of the programmes to be sure and visit each programme's Flyertalk forum. It is a lot easier for us to help people who do the homework first and it is a lot beneficial for you to get strategical advices here than answering basic programme questions that you can look up on the web youself.
