Air France Frequence Plus - Question: Alizé CDG-HAV since new PV Seats

I'm flying with my friend to HAV end October in Alizé (Award ticket).
What can I expect in terms of seat + meal?
I heard it is the PV seat (2 4 2 configuration). Does anyone know is it is the first generation or the more comfortable one as on the A380?
Thanks for any useful tips.

You'll get the Alize version 3-3-3. This sounds like a normal Y config on a 777 (even though AF does 3-4-3). However, you'll get a quite comfy 36" legspace. And the seats themselves are also a notch op from normal Y seats, not as good ast the new PV though. Also, you'll get the J catering, just in a less fancy presentation. That's something you will not get on PV.

All in all Alize is a reasonably comfortable and pleasant experience.

The config of Boeing 777-300ER has changed in Alizé to match the international PV. So 2-4-2, with a pitch of 38''.
The meal service is upgraded version from economy (better starter and dessert, 2 hot main dishes to choose), but not business.
You can see details on AF website.
I find the seat not bad for day flight but quite uncomfortable for night flight.

Obviously it's been a while!

Thanks for replies. Has anyone actually flown this route since the upgrade which took place in 2012? I wonder if the seats are the same as on A380.

Well information given by Zembla and jean_tongues are partialy correct.

AF 77W COI are now all fitted with Premium Voyageur seats in a 2-4-2 config instead of the previous 3-3-3 Alize seats except 1 aircraft still yet to be retrofited.
Concerning the catering you gonna receive it's all depend on the destination, historical COI destinations such as PTP, CAY, FDF, RUN will receive an Alize meal: J meal with less fancy plate on one tray BUT some destinations that used to receive Alize service has been downgraded to PV catering when they got the PV seat and in this case you gonna get the Y meal with a better starter and dessert.

Thus for HAV I dunno what catering you will get.

Concerning the seat I guess they fitted a better foam like on 388 but this customer found it quite hard:

Thanks for report. I'm a little worried about the catering. I've read some reports saying service is Y type. Not exactly what you can read on the AF site.

On CAY, FDF, PTP and RUN (Alize)
same catering as "Business"

On HAV, PUJ, SDQ and SXM (Premium)
same catering as " Voyageur "

Booking class W, S and A

No chance of getting upgraded meal and champagne then? It's a shame AF can not be consistent especially on flights ex-CDG.

Anyway, I think the award was a good deal (classic award available) vs price of Y ticket around 1300eur on the dates I'm flying.

In terms of seats we've got 6A and 6B. What would you recommend? Is this a good choice?

You get champagne in PV FWIW.

When looking at the PV page it says at cocktails and hot meal: "Service provided at no extra charge for some destinations."
Please don't tell me there are destinations for which you have to pay for cocktail and meals.

AF Premium Economy meal service is very unclear and not well communicated.
Alize gets business type meal.
Premium Voyageur gets better starter, Y meal, better dessert and chocolates.
Premium Voyageur used to get Y service but apparently some destinations still get it.

On my CDG-HAV e-ticket booking class is A and marketing Alize, so an OP should expect to get Alize meal as shown on the website.

This is served in all Cabins when flying AF... You just need to ask for it.

My apologies then... I was quite sure we were served Champagne in Y flying to SXM BUT maybe this is not classified as a COI flight as it technically doesn't fly to a French COM as SXM

I'll fly in a few days in Alizé (according to award booking) / Premium Economy (according to manage my booking) in a few days and back in Affaires in a few weeks on this route. I'll post a few words and pictures if you want :)

That would be really great. Your manage my booking says Premium? Mine says Alize.
Moreover I just did a dummy booking for my flight end October. You get to choose premium voyageur but recap is branded Alize. Moreover the flight map of the flight doesn't match any AF plane. In J one row of seats instead of 2.
Very puzzling. Anyway, I think that having pictures or a very recent flight report on this route would help to know exactly what to expect.

I thought catering had increased slightly in PV compared to Voyageur -- same main but better starter and dessert?

That's what I thought, but I'm worried COI like HAV and PUJ get downgraded service which is rather ridiculous.

I got some valuable information today through AF call center.
HAV,PUJ,SDQ and SXM are Premium Voyageur. They will get international PV service starting Sep 1st. Meal includes champagne, better starter, choice of 2 hot meals, better dessert, complimentary chocolates.

My experience of champagne and wine in PV is that you get a glass or two in a plastic cup as in international Y. Similarly, wine is a small individual bottle or two, and pretty generic, although decent stuff. If you want more you must ask, you might see the crew frown at this, sometimes.

Affaires is a step above with somewhat free-flowing wine and champagne of better (good, not great) pedigree, during and between meals (self-service bar).

Just so you have the right expectations!

Hi. I came back two days ago to DXB, so here are my comments:
The seat was very comfortable (I think it was the one with a softer cushion), the service bad: I think the same food as in economy, NO choice (same tray for everybody!). There is no drink before food! No champaign in PV! And flight attendents reading books on more then half of the flight :o. When flying EK on a 6hrs flight I don't see FA having a single minute free time. What would it cost more to the flight attendents to give aperitive first and then bring the tray with food? they were bored on half of the flight :(
The sound of the monitor was not working as well.

Affaires was a bit different on the return flight: FA really good, very nice and professional. But still NO choice for the starter or desert. I don't like seafood and the starter was ... guess...
The entertainment system was not working for anyone. And the screen looks smaller then in Y with EK.
First time I tried NEV4 seat and I found it really comfortable.

AF offered me 14 000 (!) miles for compensation for the IFE system not working! That's nice.

Indeed nice gesture. Did you have to claim for them? It's amazing to have these issues with IFE and in your case it was on both flights.

Catering looks quite basic especially in biz. I'm hoping the implementation of new international PV service in a few days will bring some differentiation vs Y product.

14000 miles for an IFE not working
Good for you but I think this is really shocking knowing what they usually give in case of major irrops (10 to 20k)
