just got this email a few moments ago:

As a valued Silver Preferred member, join between July 17 and July 20 and pay only $315 with promo code USCLB. Or, pay $375 and earn 5,000 Preferred qualifying miles with promo code PQM5K. And, for being a valued customer, we’ll waive the $50 initiation fee

anyone jumping in?

I was debating it. The 5k PQM is pretty tempting. They've been doing this offer pretty regularly. I guess my only question is the membership good for 12 calendar months from the date of purchase?

I always assumed that buying an annual membership gave you the membership for 12 months from that date.

I jumped... looking at my future travel for the year, the 5K PQM miles may make the difference in maintaining my status for next year. The extra $60 for 5K actual PQM seems like a better deal than perhaps buying up at the end of year, since that doesn't actually net any actual miles.

I received the same offer. I'm Silver and I currently have a club membership that expires in August. I think I'll jump on this for the 5k miles.

I think i will too - 5K PQM seems to be the best of the club offers I have gotten this year

I got it too. Debating dumping my UA Club Visa and taking this. Price is the same and I get the PQMs.

I also received the offer...I've been toying with all these club sales for a while, and the 5k PQM may actually push me through this time. Almost like doing a PHX-NYC mileage run, without actually having to get on the plane--with something to last after.

As a CP the prices are:
$275 no miles
$325 for the 5k PQM

Hard to see passing this one up. $315 for 5k EQM is 6.3 cents per EQM, which is pretty much a poor mileage run. Even though I have the Amex Plat, getting access to United Clubs seems to make it a no brainer.

If memory serves, the last two years US offered discounts and PQM Club promotions that overlapped slightly with beginning of Grand Slam. One could renew at discount/get PQMs AND a hit in Grand Slam for renewing with the Club. I did this.

So, when I got my email, I thought "rats," they may not do that this year.

___________

Ah, I looked it up in my tracking spread sheet for Grand Slam, and it looks like the PQM offer was for only 3k EQM then.

I was looking on the Grand Slam sub-forum yesterday, and some posters believe there will be no Grand Slam this year. Take that with a grain of salt, of course. But anyone hesitating on this offer in anticipation of another Grand Slam club offer may be disappointed.

When I bought my membership last August, the offer was for 3.5k preferred miles for (I believe) the same price. I'm happy to take advantage of a better deal this year!

Aside from drinks what benefits do the clubs have over and above what a USO would have?

My membership expires in October and I got the offer. I assume a renewal would put me through to Oct 2013 not just 12 months from now?

The offer states that it is for: "new US Airways Club annual memberships and current US Airways Club memberships that are eligible for renewal." I would hope that since you received the offer that you are eligible for renewal, but I *think* I've read previously that the "elgible for renewal" period begins two months prior to your current expiration. I tried to confirm that online but couldn't.

I received an e-mail a week or two ago pushing me to renew ahead of my August expiration, so I'm assuming I'm within the renewal period. Have you gotten that yet? I probably should have called today before doing the renewal online to confirm, but I'm also assuming I extended my membership to August 2013, not July 2013.

Will probably jump in on this one myself ... Just for the UA clubs are worth it as I also have a Plat Amex card. The 5k PQM pushes me over the edge!

It's 375 for Plat and down if you want PQM.

Not sure what USO has, but you generally get light snacks, free WiFi, soda/coffee/tea, beer/wine, and perhaps the most important, agents that can help you in IRROPS when everyone else is waiting in line.

Generally the same stuff, except no direct airline support. Usually video games and computers too. Options very limited abroad though.

Ahh -- yes, thanks. So, 7.5 cents per EQM.

BTW, in case anyone was wondering how fast the miles post: at least for me, I submitted my renewal order in the morning and the PQM were in my account the same day. Of course, YMMV and it may take longer for some if there's a significant response to the offer.

US MC charge after renewing by phone for similar offer earlier this year:

Anyone else who purchased this online yesterday NOT seeing the miles in your account? I clicked all the way through to purchase, and if there was a problem, I didn't notice it. However, the miles are still not in my account. I just called US, and they don't see the Club renewal. I also called Barclay's, and they don't see the transaction. I have to wait until 8 AM to call the Club to try to renew over the phone, but for me, at least, it seems the online purchase didn't work.

Edited 7/18: I received an e-mail from US this afternoon containing the receipt for the Club renewal, and the 5k miles are in my account now. So, I guess my only remaining "complaint" is that the charge has yet to hit my credit card. :)

I'm tempted to do this. I travel alone most of the time, but now and again (3 times year, do travel with the family). Am I allowed to enter the wife and my two kids into the club with my membership (traveling with me on the day of travel)?

Now the question is whether anyone has had good luck entering the UA club using the US air receipt. It appears getting the cards timely is often hit and miss. Want to buy today and use the UA club, and us club agent via phone said she can't guarantee it.

Actually, I believe it does. The United Club page says that their members get the same access to US Clubs (2 guests or family), so it's likely reciprocal.

However for other Star Alliance clubs, the rule is one guest only, and you have to be traveling on a Star Alliance flight.

I do not have silver status with USAirways. Has any dividend miles member had success with this code? I had joined last time they offered $250 special.I am a CO flyer but would love to take advantage of this special
Thanks for you input

I purchased online during the last promotion and it took a few days for the charge and the miles to post. It seems as though your information is taken and the actual work is done at a later time .

I pulled the trigger back when they did the 3500 pqm promo. I went into the UA lounge in MCO and i gave them the receipt showing the purchase. the agent typed some info and said come on in. This despite the US agent being very adamant about only being allowed into UA lounges with a card. Really the only reason i bought the club pass was to get UA access as I have an amex plat.

Kinda funny, the card just came in the mail about two weeks ago. It has a logo of the UA RCC and CO PC on the back of the card...way to update your system guys...

I'm in my second year of having the membership; got it when they were having the $250 deal and have recouped my money several fold just in the breakfast costs alone (I love yogurt). Right now I'm sitting in the UA RCC-B in SEA waiting my conx and am hoping that they have another sale when it's time for me to renew in sept. With my job, PQMs don't mean anything to me, I want lots of $$ off ;-)

Alright, let me know if something got screwed up.

I bought this on Friday. Didn't get an email confirmation but a web page that said I would hear in 3 days about it. I don't have an authorization showing on my US card.

So am I SOL, or do I need to call US?

Do you have the 5k miles in your account (assuming you took the deal with miles?) I purchased online on Tuesday and received an e-mail receipt and the miles in my account on Wednesday. The charge did not hit my card until Friday, however.

Nope. Never got an email. Granted, I did this Friday evening late.

EDIT: Called US and they found it. They just hadn't processed it yet. Also got 5k RDMs in addition to the PQMs.
