Club Carlson - Modifying an Award Res. Made at Lower Points?

I made an award reservation for 3 nights while they were at 9K points per night, but now may decide to drop one of those nights and keep the other 2. Will this cause my reservation to repriced at the higher current 15K points per night for the 2 nights that I keep?

I have no direct experience with this on CC,
but I think you can assume it will reprice at 15K if you cancel/rebook.

I would just call in and I expect they can sort it for you.

Be careful though, this scenario with IHG PB often seems to work,
i.e. phone agent says it is done at PB rate,
but in fact they also simply rebooked and some have
been surprised to find the extra points out of their account.

Based on my experience, you can’t alter the reservation at the old point level.

We booked 3 nights in Austin when the redemption rate was 15,000 points per night. After the devaluation, the points increased to 28,000 per night. We decided to look into spending another night in New Braunfels and wanted to drop our first night in Austin. There were no scenarios that allowed me to keep the other two nights at the old rate. Ultimately, I ended up not making changes and calling the hotel to check us in. We didn’t show up until the second day. While I wasted points on a night, I still came out better in the end:

45,000 points for 3 nights at the Old rate is better than 56,000 points for 2 nights at the New rate
