I have a layover in PDX and was wondering how their Boardroom is? I know that they offer Alaska Ale, Kona Longboard Beer. I was wondering are the other drinks complimentary such as Gin and Tonic? I read somewhere that only beer and wine were complimentary. I hope to get some Cooks Sparkling wine there.

As a Priority Pass member I have really enjoyed the benefits of using the airline lounges when flying on Southwest and even on Alaska. It has really made the connection time whether its a short connection or long connection much easier.

A quick beer at the lounge vs one at an airport bar is a great benefit along with the snacks etc.

No hard stuff per Oregon Liquor rules.

They will have the sparkling wine.

PDX board room is nice, although I've seen it get packed to the gills during the afternoon/evening rush. It has a good view of the C2/C4 gates plus the even side of the D concourse. The staff in there has always been pleasant; overall the PDX BR is of the reasons I vastly prefer connecting in PDX over SEA, the other being that PDX is a much nicer overall facility.

PDXBR is a studio apartment compared to SEA's. One floor, narrow and linear. That is why, as Chugach noted, it can get packed to the gills during peak times. Much more than 20 people in there and it can make one claustrophobic. But I agree with the previous comment that the staffpeople there are excellent.

Some of the folks at PDX are becoming like a second family to me. They're all great, but Lisa is one of the absolute best.

I haven't seen it really full recently, but I have been in there a number of times when I have the whole room to myself. I can make as many pancakes as I desire. :D

I've had bloodies in the UAL red carpet club so I do not believe this is an OLCC rule. It's just Alaska being Alaska

The full likker lisens probably costs a bunch more, and in the case of UA, it is a 3d party vendor's license, most likely.

AFAIK its supposed to be a 'full service' restaurant vs just a place with drinks and snacks to serve hard stuff in PDX.

NW WC aka DL SC doesn't serve hard stuff either- pre or post merger.

Yes, they did. Used to have a nice selection of premium labels. They have simply followed the squeak of AS by not paying for the full license, thereby saving on the liquor cost.

Really? I was just there for the first time 2 weeks ago.

Tiny room that was thankfully pretty deserted on a Monday afternoon. However, it is so small that I could easily hear the conversation of the other couple in the room.

Ridiculously small snack setup area, NO comparison at all with SEA. Even ANC has a larger setup. No discussion here necessary.

Beer and wine only. And according to the concierge, in Oregon an establishment has to serve at least 3 menu items to be able to serve hard stuff. Cheese and crackers don't count. Truth or not? I don't know. But Oregon does have some strange rules.

Give me SEA even with the crowds.

Don't know the exact rules of the law but have heard the OLCC has some quirks. The Delta club does not have the hard stuff either. Never been in the United club but have heard they do have hard stuff. Not sure how they do it.

I am based in PDX and connect through SEA on occasion. I do not think SEA airport or BR is a dump at all. I do think PDX has a great airport though. The BR is just OK. Nothing special.

I have been using that club since it was a NW club (was flying Continental PDX-IAH) and never recall seeing hard liquor in it.

Could have missed it of course as the flights were in the AM but is definitely not in the memory bank.

Wow. Maybe I was in the wrong place at PDX because there was nothing in there that made me think "this is so much nicer than the SEA BR" other than it was deserted. What are you raving about in regards to the PDX BR? The furniture? Just as uncomfortable as SEA. The carpet? Can't even remember that. The tiny shin-high tables? Certainly not the selection of snacks and beverages. Truly I must have been in the "other" BR.

Tiny room? I take it you've never been to the SFO boardroom!

They could meet the requirements like some of the bars in Portland do, offer 3 different TV dinners at crazy expensive prices! I know of a bar that sells banquet dinners for $7..

Oregon seems to require:

"During meal period" - Five substantial food items with at least one side dish.

"At all other times" - Five substantial food items.

No wonder there is just beer and wine!

Let's call a spade a spade. All the BR's are sub-par with the exception of the new one at LAX. The DL SC at SEA is way nicer than the AS BR there. PDX BR is tiny and whenever you hub through PDX is a trek from all the QX flights.

I for one prefer ANC to LAX- used to enjoy the old TWA club- new one is just 'cramped' and too earthy for me. Bar turned out good- except one is facing away from the tarmac now  not that T-6 presents many views- but I digress ;)

I don't think the LAX one is that cramped. There seems to be a lot of furniture compared to SEA or PDX, but up against the windows is fine for me. I'm just thrilled to be out of terminal 3rd world....

Speaking of furniture, supposedly PDX will be getting new stuff this winter/fall.

Agreed. The staff is awesome at PDX. They are also some of the most experienced with the Alaska booking system and can work wonders in case of a weather delay with a reroute (or helping with any other inconvenience).

You know, I much preferred the old BR at LAX. There was a special atmosphere among the regular commuters at the bar there, especially on a Thursday night. The new BR has a totally sterile feel, and isn't warm and welcoming like the old one. Also, I don't remember the new BR runway views but the old BR runway views were awesome.

Great news. The furniture in that club is old and well worn. I have wondered why it hadn't been upgraded yet.
