Japan - Tokyo for a day staying at Park Hyatt overnight

I'll arrive Friday at 8pm and then depart midnight the next day. I have two free nights at any Hyatt hotel and I'm considering staying at the Park Hyatt Tokyo by myself. Is this worth it or should I be saving this award for Shanghai's Park Hyatt where I can stay with my girlfriend?
I will probably be following the itinerary listed here: http://wikitravel.org/en/One_day_in_Tokyo
The problem is I have to check out of the Park Hyatt by 2pm and my flight doesn't leave until 12:05am back to LAX. Is it possible to store my luggage at the hotel while I explore the city and then come back around 9pm to head to the airport?

Should be no problem with them holding your luggage.
Tough call on the Park Hyatt. It's a really nice hotel, but unless you're a Diamond, you'll have to pay up to experience the spa and breakfast, without which (along with the famous bar) you would not really be getting the full Park Hyatt experience.
I assume you're getting the nights from the Hyatt Credit Card? If so, do you still have your Anniversary Night stay? The nearby Tokyo Regency Hyatt is a Tier 3 hotel, so you could use that night there (and even walk to the Park Hyatt to check it out), and save the anywhere nights for Shanghai.

Unfortunately I just opened the card a few months ago and won't get the anniversary night until next year. I could get Hyatt to match my Hilton Gold status but I'd rather do that for both nights so I should probably wait until Shanghai for that.
Any suggestions on where to stay that's fairly cheap and would hold my luggage until 9pm while I travel the city? I'm considering some hostels but they'd probably charge me for 2 nights to store my suitcase.

I like this place for budget stays in Tokyo.

Nothing much in the general vicinity, but close enough to the Yamanote Line to be a decent base for travel.

I have Diamond status now and booked a room at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. What benefits do I get with the Diamond status? I arrive in NRT at 8pm and then fly out of HND at midnight the following day. Is it best to just take the train from NRT -> hotel -> HND? Also, what should I do in the ~24 hours I have? I've never been to Tokyo before.

Congratulations. Did you already use your other day elsewhere?
As I recall, Diamond status gets you the following:
A room upgrade when possible (not guaranteed)
Diamond amenity, which in my case was a very nice banana cake with chocolate sauce
Free access to the gym, spa, and pool, though they will all be closed for the night by the time you arrive
Free drinks from a set menu at The Bar from 5pm to 7pm, though you won't be there in time to take advantage of this
Because the PHT doesn't have a club lounge, you will get a free set breakfast (buffet, Japanese set breakfast, or healthy set breakfast) at the French restaurant, or free set breakfast via room service
Checkout as late as 4pm
30% additional points on any expenditures you have during your stay
Also not a "diamond benefit" (ie, anyone can use it), but the hotel offers free bicycle rentals. If you're like me, you'll really enjoy just taking off and getting lost in Tokyo for a few hours in the morning.
Unfortunately, your schedule doesn't allow for you take advantage of some of the Diamond benefits...but of course, it's the Park Hyatt Tokyo, so you should still have a great stay.
Since time is at a premium for you, your best bet for getting there is to just take the Limousine Bus that goes direct from the airport to your hotel. How to get back will depend on what you do after check out, and what you do after check out depends on what day/day of the week you arrive and what sort of things interest you. The concierge at the Park Hyatt is quite helpful, so have a chat with somebody there to get an idea of how to plan your final day.

Thank you so much hailstorm for the advice. I just used the first night at PH Beijing. The Diamond status got me free apples and cookies, a room upgrade, and free breakfast. I'm really looking forward to Tokyo!

Even if you can't go on the night you arrive, definitely try to check out the spa and go look at the pool area on your second day. And you gotta visit the bar for a drink, even if you have to pay for it. ;)
(by the way, they have everything you need at the gym/pool if you didn't bring it...swimming trunks, exercise clothes, shoes, all free to rent)
Enjoy your stay!

What's there to do at the spa? I've never been to one before... Also, where do you recommend biking to?

The spa/pool/gym are all part of the same complex, so you could do a workout, swim, whatever, then go to the sauna, hot baths, and other places within to unwind. They also have some drinks and snacks inside, and various different bright and dark rooms for relaxation purposes.
As for the biking, there are a couple of nice parks around. The staff there can give you a map and directions on things that you might like to see.
