Spirit announced six new routes from DFW-PHL/LBE/MSY/SJD/MSP/RSW.

As I said on the US board, this seems crazy. PHL-DFW is a business route. Spirit has no biz travellers. Because of existing competition, leisure fares currently aren't crazy on this route: about $300 roundtrip. I don't see an opportunity here. I see over-reaching. The same hubris that has killed other start-ups. If Spirit wants to survive, they have to be smarter. This may involve dialing back deliveries and picking their spots more carefully.

Um, Philly is a large city, as is Dallas, so with one flight a day I'd think enough kettles will jump on their discounted fares*

And it also makes sense as they are announcing DFW to CUN and other service.

NK is starting slowly with Philly with only four flights a week, then five before finally flying seven days a week.

When all the flights are flying, DFW will be second largest hub after home base FLL.
