Hey ya'all,

Recently on returning from a trip abroad, at YYZ, the CBSA Agent at primary 'scanned' my Canadian passport with the machine they have.

I have never had a CBSA agent scan my passport before this, just want to know if this is a new procedure, or the agent was unsure and did it.
I was under the impression that only "foreigners" were having their passports scanned by CBSA.

CBSA scanning Canadian passports upon entry, at YYZ.

Is this normal now? Has anyone else had theirs scanned also at the primary inspection line at CBSA at airport when returning to Canada? Any cbsa people here can comment, perhaps?

They always scan your passport. If, for example, you're red-flagged for having smuggled in the past this is the only way they know.

Canadian passports has been scanned by CBSA (and the predecessor) at YYZ even at the end of the last millennium.
