Hello. I am GOLD with HH but don't have a lot of points.
I am trying to get MORE points quickly and also keep my status for 2013. Any good ideas?
I know with Marriott, you can do a meeting there and get credit for 10 nights stay, for example. Just trying to learn more about HH>

you can get a Hilton credit card. This will give you status the first year and points for everything you chrg to the card.
There are usually sign-up bonuses for the cards even with no fee cards.

Poke around this forum and look for the quarterly promos -- right now there's one for 2x or 3x points.
You can optimize your points a bit by selecting how you earn them and can do this on a stay be stay basis. Sometimes it's better to get fixed points per stay, sometimes its better to get variable points based on how much you spend.

To clarify, you get Silver status for as long as you hold the fee-free HHonors Amex. You can EARN Gold status by charging $20K/yr. OTW, no Gold status w/o earning it.
You get Gold status for the SURPASS Amex ($75 annual fee, no fee free period) for the first year ONLY. After that, it has to be earned w/$20K spend/yr. You can also EARN Diamond status on the Surpass w/$40K spend/yr.
You ONLY get Silver status just for having the AMEX. However, Silver is essentially worthless, ex access to VIP awards and 15% bonus points w/stays.
