Agreed. Discover is typically not the 760+ credit ratings, so they haven't had to pump up the rewards. Okay, somebody did their job and got my attention. Let's see what they can produce.

Jul 16, 12, 11:10 am
As has been pointed out by others, it is always nice to get a heads up about a new product coming soon. It helps me plan my spends, regulate my churn cycle, hold off on applying for a card with average miles/points bonus and cancel the unwanted cards so as to minimize the number of open cards (which may or may not be a positive thing). So, yes, I want to know if something new is coming in 2 weeks that I should wait for. Even if it turns out to be not a stellar offer, at least I would have the choice of making decisions based on the spread available at the time.

Hoping this is true. I currently have the Ink Bold card with the 50k bonus sign on back with $5,ooo spent in March or April and not the current $25k spending as this is way out of what I spend on one card. Gladly sign on for another Ink card if they offer the same sign on bonus.
But just off hand, if I already have the INK Bold card, will I be allow to sign on for another INK card?? or will this be consider a different card??

That's only 20K points more than the current offer. Dream bigger!
Given that the official BA 100K card offer goes away tomorrow...and that FTG says the new card program is the one where he accumulates the most points, I'm guessing it's a new version of the BA card with a lower spending requirement (than the official offer, not the $150 backdoor)...still 100K Avios points, and some added BA benefits.

After they restructured the whole BA mileage program last year and change name to Avios, I have not been a big fan of BA. Alot more miles needed to fly with their "segments" instead of the all in one RT miles for a flight (not to mention no more free stop overs like the old days) and what about those high fuel charges that sometimes make the "free" flight mileage unusable as I sometimes found cheaper flights online just paying for the tix. No more BA for me. I still have over 150k BA and don't know what to do with it, best use of BA would be to fly domestic but using BA for AA redemption is sometimes not easy and I also have plenty of AA miles just for that.

Just to add to the old news that has a slight chance of being relevant: Diners Club (US/Canada) personal ("professional") cards has not been available for new signups for several years, as Citi very slowly sold it to Bank Of Montreal. That sale completed half a year ago, but for a few months after that they had "teething problems". Those have mostly finally cleared up by now. At some point, new DC personal cards should become available again. Whether there'll be a signup offer then or not, that I have no clue about. And whether it will be in two weeks or two months or two years :), that I have no clue about either.

For all those that assume it is for affiliate commissions go ahead and continue with that negative thinking
It won't change the fact that thousands of people read my blog and others everyday and they appreciate any inside information that may help them plan a current or future churn.
Ultimately happy readers are loyal readers and any information I can give them helping them plan ahead makes the reader the winner. It is so much more fun to read about reader successes than listen to the complainers. If readers are successful, I am successful.

FTG is hinting that there will be a new miles card, and much as he loves SPG, he prefers using SPG points on hotel rooms. United is his primary carrier now, but I seem to recall that he earned the majority of his miles churning AA cards.
I guess that it will be a new AA card. United introduced the Explorer relatively recently, but Citibank hasn't changed their AA card in a while.

For all those that assume it is for affiliate commissions go ahead and continue with that negative thinking
Why are we talking negative thinking here? The FTG blog is owned by Internet Brands and the last time I checked it, Internet Brands was a FOR-PROFIT organization that has a long-term goal of (surprise!) maximizing shareholders' profit.
I find it really amazing that the blog with last months' content primarily aimed at engaging readers into credit card churning through affiliate links (with a thin layer of other travel-related information) all of a sudden starts talking about affiliate commissions being a distant secondary goal .... To me that sounds similar to all the miles and points devaluation being marketed as "improvements of the program's value to our members".
And please understand me right that I'm a very pro-business minded person and the right to earn profit here is not an issue. Integrity of what you say vs. what you do is.
Please remember, I gave my word I would say no more. I don't want to lose the confidence of the inside. I wish Diners would come back too but I have no info on Diners or Carlson cards.
There are not so many options out here what the original hint meant and excluding two of them (or three counting SPG card a couple of paragraphs above) doesn't sound like "saying no more" to me.

here is a quote from Million Mile Secret
"There may be a new business credit card (as opposed to their current charge card) coming out soon in Q3 (July to September) with a decent sign-on bonus from a bank which offers the boldest business cards in the market."
If that is not a Chase Ink Bold Card I would be surprised. In the article he wrote there maybe be a larger spend, and incentives to keep card etc rather than to churn.
Another Quote "If a credit card had a history of increasing the sign-up bonuses during a certain period, that pattern may be repeated again – as early as this summer."
This appears to be an AMEX sign on bonus increase similar to last summer. I know I got 100K for Platinum and $75K for AMEX PRG last summer, so that maybe returning as well.

Well, actually, Citibank did change their AA cards a few months ago, it's just that they didn't change them while changing them. :D :p
Ie, they added new benefits to existing cards (checked bags, priority boarding, 10% rebate on award redemptions up to 10k a year, double miles on AA purchases, etc), and said they'd be raising the annual fee to $95 (the same as UA Explorer and DL cards with somewhat similar benefits) on those cards, but didn't give the cards a new name.
Saw it on MMS' blog. Whatever it is, I'll hold off on the apps until August.
Hoping AMEX is one of them ... crossing fingers for fee waived AMEX Platinum, since SPG isn't it. If not fee-waived, at least 75K bonus.
Though the clues seem to be related to Chase. Kind of wary, as I don't have the current Ink Bold and was planning to apply for it soon. Hopefully the new card doesn't replace the current card.

When has AMEX ever waived the annual fee for platinum card holders except for that height in the economic boom when even then they only offered such waiver to select individuals???

Ink Plus was one the original four Ink products. Each has been refreshed since the introduction, and Ink Plus disappeared from the public website, but there have been targeted offers reported since January. You are correct that Ink Classic is a credit card which participates in Ultimate Rewards, but to transfer the points to airline or hotel programs you must also hold another card (Ink Bold, Sapphire Preferred, JPM Select or JPM Palladium). Ink Plus points can be transferred even if it is your only card because it carries an annual fee.
There is no particular reason to prefer Plus over Bold, but if Chase treats it as a separate product there will be an opportunity to earn another new account bonus.

During that height in the economic boom when even then they only offered such waiver to select individuals.
Like I said though, if it's not fee-waived (which is likely), a 75K or 100K bonus would sweeten the deal.
Middle of the year is the best time to get the AMEX, since you can most efficiently use the $200 airline credit twice to bring down the $450 fee.

I read that comment also. Rick has said it isn't SPG, but a larger SPG sign up bonus is coming soon. And it is in a program where he earns the most miles--perhaps United or an Ink Bold card. Discover does not make any sense, as Rick does not seem to value the Discover card programs. I did wonder if it might be an American card, but now I'm thinking United or Ink. It is too bad so many of the best cards are Chase cards, I need to stop applying for Chase cards so often! I've had 3 new Chase cards this year.

I doubt it is the discover card. All we get with discover offerings at our house are either 0% BT or $100 signup bonus. We don't need the $$ and $100 is not worth our time. Discover offerings get "fed" to our shredder. We only got 1 decent offering by mail and that was a few years ago when my wife got a 50K bonus for AMEX Gold rewards. It was targeted. Nothing on FT for AMEX Gold at the time was anywhere near 50K. It was a couple years later that the "bump" the bonus was taking place.
Bottom line: My guess may not be very good. We will just have to wait a little longer to find out. ;)

We will just have to wait a little longer to find out. ;)
maybe next week;)

Well, we've got our answer...and I couldn't be happier! Ink Plus has officially hit the Chase app site! Can u pls share the link to the offer? If it is 25 K on first purchase and another 25 K on $10 K purchase, then I will have to pass. There was a 60 K Ink Bold offer just sometime back.
And yeah, it is 25 + 25 after 10K. Sorry! But maybe you'll get targeted for a 50K after first purchase offer, like I did for the IB last Christmas!

Or maybe the bloggers will get links to better offers.

For the increased SPG bonus, do you (all) think that the spend amount at 5k will stay the same. Or do you suspect that a lower min spend could come with it?

Last year it was $4500, the year before only $500! But seriously, I'd take 50K UR points over 30K Starpoints any day, even if it is twice the spend.
