With several programs you earn a flat rate when buying something from T-Mobile. Is there typically a limit on these things?

I purchased a SIM card, which happens to be $1 when purchased online (http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/T-Mobile-Prepaid-SIM-Activation-Kit). This earned me 600 United points, I think, though it could be more points with other programs (http://evreward.com/store/go/2231-t-mobile-u-s). Not an enormous amount, but I'll take it!

Care to provide the link that gives you 600 UA miles/dollar spent? The one you referenced gives 400.

Wonder how many SIM cards I can buy........:)

The link on that page says 400 miles, but when you click through, the loading page states, "Place an order now, and you will earn 600 miles."

On the same screen it also says:

"Only eligible on the activation of prepaid phone services and on the activation of wireless services. Each individual prepaid service is eligible. Wireless service must be a minimum of 2 years to be eligible. 2 year service renewals & accessories are not eligible. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents."

Almost all mobile phone "rebate" links are for new service plans only, assume this unless you read specifically otherwise.

Are they in your account or are you assuming they will come?

Still assuming, will report back.

FWIW I actually do intend to use the SIM I purchased ...

I don't see any mention of miles.
I would gamble a $ for "just for grins" ":D"
if I can see the miles at least mentioned ...

edit:

nevermind, now I understand.
It is through the UA shopping mall.

I looked at 1167 choice points, but again,
it likely will only reward with activation.

I'm in the UA Shopping mall and the most I can see is 1 mile per $1. Not sure how OP is seeing this.

go to your united account, log in. Then go here (https://www.mileageplusshopping.com/)

You should see your name and account number listed on the top right.

then type in "T-Mobile" in search box

then click on "600 miles"

Then type in "t-mobile sim" in search box.

When you click and the page is redirecting you to T-mobile, the load page specifically says (and I quote):

"Only eligible on the activation of prepaid phone services and on the activation of wireless services. Each individual prepaid service is eligible. Wireless service must be a minimum of 2 years to be eligible. 2 year service renewals & accessories are not eligible. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents."

So, that's only 600 miles for most of us, unless you want to have 10 or 100 activated phones, unfortunately.

I think it actually can be quite cheap to 'activate' a pre-paid card, though. For example, pre-paid by the day can be as cheap as $1 a day, and you only pay for the days you use. Top ups are as low as $10, but the card already comes with credit on it.

you have to sign up for 2 years of service? pre-paid? or am I reading it wrong?

travelingsr

The way I read it, pre-paid and post-paid are both eligible.

I am pretty sure that you have to activate the sim before adding funds to it so my guess is that you could activate and not have to worry about topping it up.

I really can't tell what will come of this.
But I received shipping notice for 2 cards today, $1.07 each,
one thru UA shopping and one thru Choice.

Very important point.

Be aware, that Cartera Commerce can, and has, taken miles out of frequent flyer accounts for ineligible online shopping purchases, even after the miles have posted to your frequent flyer account.

Sometimes it can be months before the miles are taken out of your account.

If you do get the 600 miles for your purchase, and the miles aren’t taken away months later, congrats! :)

Don't forget about a larger bonus that people tried to get from an online shopping mall for a Verizon offer, but Cartera still gave out "good will" miles:

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why this is drawing any interest . 600 measley UA miles for a prepaid or 2 year service deal from T-mobile?

Is the *hope* that, activating a $1 SIM card for pre-paid service somehow will earn the miles. What is the minimum one would then have to pre-pay? I don't know anything about pre-pad mobile service. Even still, it seems like a decent waste of time, and likely to not meet the t&c's.

I actually need one t-mobile sim for backup. In for one and see what will happen.

MrHalliday
Jul 20, 12, 4:22 pm
My two sims at $1.07 each arrived,
I put one in my existing prepaid t-mobile phone,
was able to activate it online,
and received e-mail with a new phone number.

Selected the $3 per day talk/text/200mb data plan
which was covered by the $3.34 included in the "package".
Checking my balance now = 34 cents, and I can make calls.
Next time I will select $1 per day for just unlimited voice.

I have no idea if I will get points;
don't care too much either way. :D
Maybe I can use the cards someday.
I might even spend another $2.14.

MrHalliday
Jul 21, 12, 1:28 pm
And... pretty much as expected,
I cannot make a call today,
as it tries to take $3 out of 34 cents. :D

So I have gone back to my regular
prepaid sim with $30 or so on it.

I am now curious to see if the one I activated
will throw off some points,
and the unactivated one does not (yet).

I am not really sure how I got past the activation
without giving a credit card number.

Will practice next month to see if I can get another activated
with the per-minute option, i.e. ten minutes or $3.34.
But typing in those long numbers is a chore. :D

MrHalliday
Oct 15, 12, 11:48 am
Hmmm... I see 500 miles in
my UA from June for "mobile".

I forgot all about this,
I am guessing these are from the activated SIM.

I guess I should activate my other and seee if it shows up in Choice... :)
