After LH downgrades TLV from A340 to A321, it is rumoured that BA will go from 777/763 to A321.
Will LY gain premium pax on this route as LY serves LHR mainly with 772/744?

Not sure what's going on with this. Some of the routes that have changed are already different in the booking engine. I can still book F tickets in January.

For me personally, I'd still likely be on BA as I am tranferring to the USA only when on BA, and am usually in CW. A smaller cabin while maintaining BA's CW hard product isn't really a bad thing, I guess. And it would still beat El Al.

The only people I really would see moving at the WT+ crowd. El Al does have a pretty good Y, but El Al First doesn't beat BA CW.

will they gain passengers as a result of this, yes i'm sure they will.

but there is a big difference between LH and BA in respect to them downgrading to the A321 as LH are talking about downgrading to a S/H configuration (which is not going to go down well at all) while BA are talking about a narrow bodied aircraft but with an excellent C product (ALA LX) as BizFlyin already mentioned (and the Y product doesn't sound too bas either) but we will stil loose WT+ and First meaning a significant reduction in the number of premium seats (even with the 3 daily flights) which is why I'm sure LY will gain some traffic from this move (never mind LH's).

by the way this is a picture of the business product on BA's A321 which will be operating the route (if the rumors are correct that is) and the spec for both C and Y.

still a million times nicer than LY i would say, wouldn't you?

Those seats look like the ones they use on the TLV routes on LX so I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but if I'm flying coach, I think I'd still rather be on an LY 747 or 777 than on an A320/21

I think dual-aisle planes are generally easier on pax - easier to move around in getting to the lavs (if one aisle is blocked you can go down the other) - easier boarding/deplaning, often with more overhead space.

Don't be so lazy, this thread only has 8 posts in it so read post number 3... ;)

But anyway, BA will have a very advanced and up to date AVOD system with 9" individual screens in Economy (15" in Biz) and USB connections in all seats.

LH on the other hand (unless they have plans to re configure their A320s which they haven't told anyone yet about) will be operating the route with S/H aircraft so no personal TVs.

As much as I've been moaning about BA's move, LH's decision to move to S/H aircraft on the FRA-TLV route is a real blow to their loyal customers.

Agree, and I can actually see myself choosing LY when traveling with the family now for that very reason, but if I'm alone (which is most of the time) and I'm in Y, as long as I can get an exit row I'm fine because narrow body or not, the new seats in Y do sound far superior to LY's.

Have to agree with you on that one. Thing is Y->W on BA for Golds was a given regardless of the load. But Y->J will definatley be a no no so its catch-22 as for who to use.

Plat LY on Y/S/M is a given for J
Gold BA - ??? Anybody's guess now..?
