Accor PR (http://www.accor.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Contenus_Accor/Finance/Pressreleases/2012/EN/20120716_pr_accor_posadas.pdf):

Accor consolidates its leadership in Latin America with the acquisition of the South American hotel portfolio of Grupo Posadas
This transaction, in line with the external growth strategy of the Group, includes 2,600 rooms (15 hotels) and a secured pipeline of 2,000 rooms (14 hotels).....

The PR is slightly confusing and the sale does not include all Posados hotels but only the Ceasar Park and Ceasar Business hotels:

Ceasar Park Properties:
- Buenos Aires
- Rio Ipanema
- Buenos Aires Obelisco
- São Paulo International Airport
- São Paulo Faria Lima

Ceasar Business Properties:
- Belo Horizonte Belvedere
- Lagoa dos Ingleses - Alphaville
- Manaus Amazonas
- Puerto Montt - Chile
- Rio de Janeiro Botafogo
- Salvador Bahia
- Santiago Centro
- São Paulo Faria Lima
- São Paulo International Airport
- São Paulo Paulista

Thank you both for the Posadas link and hotel list -- I received the press release but didn't have good enough internet access to research further.

Can anyone here report on any of the hotels?

On HNN (http://www.hotelnewsnow.com/Articles.aspx/8694/Accors-Caesar-deal-key-to-Americas-expansion):

Accor’s recently acquired Caesar brands are two more arrows in the quiver as the company aims to double its footprint in South America.
......
The Caesar Park brand provides guests with more traditional, luxurious stays, while the Caesar Business brand, which is primarily represented in industrial zones and key economic business centers, is tailored more to the corporate traveler.
.....
“It’s another weapon for our brand portfolio,” Mendes said of the brands.

The mid-to-upper-tier Caesar brands, which have garnered a loyal customer base in Latin America, provide Accor with yet another avenue to convert existing hotels as well as attract regional investment, he said.

Grupo Posadas “did a great job in the last 20 years with this brand,” Mendes said. “It’s a good opportunity for us to diversify our portfolio.”
.......

“The big move that we are doing is we are increasing our share of midscale, upscale and luxury properties, which is difficult,” he said.

The Grupo Posadas deal boosts Accor’s presence instantly in those segments by 15 hotels and 2,600 rooms. Accor might reflag some of those properties to one of its existing brands, such as the upper-upscale Pullman brand or upscale Novotel brand, although Mendes said it is too early to tell. The company will evaluate each property during the next six to eight months, he said.

During that evaluation period, Accor also will determine whether each property needs to be renovated or refreshed. The company must first study the market and measure the performance and awareness of each hotel, Mendes said. If upgrades are required, Accor will use funds in addition to the original $275 million that won the bid, which the company funded independently of debt financing or outside investment.

The objective, Mendes said, is to double Accor’s existing portfolio of 189 hotels in South America during the next four years.

The hotels can now be booked on the Accorhotels website

Accor Concierge, are these hotels participating in Le Club? This notice (http://www.accorhotels.com/pt-br/aquisicao/hoteis-caesar.shtml) seems to say they are.

I was at the Caesar Park Guarulhos Airport and they dont have a clue about what Le Club is. Let alone platinum benefits.
They do credit points though.

Hi Starflyergold,

Yes. These hotels do indeed take part in the Le Club Accorhotels loyalty programme. However, as heramato mentioned, due to a recent change in ownership, the hotel staff may still be unfamiliar with the programme. This will be remedied very shortly.

Many thanks,

Nathan

Hi Nathan,
Will Caesar Business and Caesar Park hotels be only crediting points, or will they be eligible for Le Club Platinum upgrades? :)
Thanks!

Hi kyushaman,

Thanks for asking.

As with any other participating hotels, stays at the Caesar Business Santiago Centro hotel or at the Caesar Park Rio de Janeiro Ipanema hotel will indeed be elegible for Le Club Accorhotels points.

Regarding the upgrades, I'm happy to say that the Caesar Park Rio de Janeiro Ipanema hotel, as a futur member of the Sofitel group, will grant Platinum members with upgrades if they so request. However, the Caesar Business Santiago Centro hotel is about to become a Mercure hotel, and therefore, no upgrades will be offered to Platinum members.

Do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any further questions.

Many thanks,

Nathan
