Just wondering whether New Zealand Immigration stamp Australian Passports at port of entry?

If I request one then would the stamp say "Residence Permit"?

Thanks,
Kris

We've never received a stamp but on the other hand have never requested one either.

Requested one once, and was told that they wouldn't stamp it. Not sure of the reasons.

Now use Smartgate for entry/exit normally, so rarely speak to anyone.

New Zealand Immigration do not stamp Australian Passports at port of exit or port of entry.
However Australian Immigration do stamp New Zealand Passports at port of exit and port of entry.
I have an expired NZ passport with a lot on Aussie stamps and new Aussie passport without stamp in it.

Yes, that's my experience, too.

Australian passports don't get stamped on arrival (or departure) from New Zealand. Presumably this is because Australian citizens are, in general, admitted to New Zealand with no time limit on their stay and so are able to live there without immigration formalities; they are also able to work there without a work permit. Whether an Australian passport would be stamped on request I do not know. Why does the OP want a stamp?

Just for sweet memories sake as NZ will be the first country I will be visiting after having aquired Oz citizenship.

Ah! Well, I think when you get back to Australia from New Zealand your new passport will still be in its virgin state, except for the memories. :)

But ask: the worst that can happen is that the answer is no!

As everyone above me has mentioned, Australian passport holders are not stamped when entering NZ, as they are automatically granted permanent residence. This is unless you have done something in the past which the NZ deems you a security risk, meaning you will have to apply for a NZ visa and will get a stamp upon arrival.

NZ permanent residents (the non-Aussie type) have their residence permit in the form of a sticker in their passport. IIRC when they first enter the country, the visa is stamped with a date, and no stamp is given after that.

The only stamps they have are Visa stamps that are relevant to Australian citizens. I asked once and that was the answer I was given

I've never had any problem getting NZ Immigration to stamp my passport on arrival when asked (and I always ask!)

The stamp I've got doesn't say anything all that interesting, it just looks like :

NEW ZEALAND CUSTOMS SERVICE
01 JAN 2099
AUCKLAND AIRPORT

The date corresponds to the arrival date. I don't seem to have any departure stamps - not sure if that's because I didn't ask, or if it's because they said no.
