The new J seat on 77W are mini F seats. Same configuration, all the bells and whistles just SMALLER. Very comfortable.

We'll quickly consider flying J now and saving the 25,000 AAmiles.

I just flew YYZ HKG on the new 77G since they dropped first class on my route.

I saved $4,000 and posted my impressions and photos on my photo site.

As nice as F was, this was a very good experience that shows the savings is a great bonus for not that much less service and space. There's more room than the herringbone and while I missed caviar, Krug and smoked salmon, one can buy a fair amount of all three of these delicacies for four grand.

Very nice review. BTW, I use a shoehorn, I have an extra long one made of stainless steel.

I've a complimentary one here in Thailand for you. C'mon by.

Tape it to a metal yardstick and you're talkin' shoehorning while standing up my friend.

I use a shoe horn. In addition to helping my wider feet into the shoe, it also protects the shoe itself, as repeatedly stepping into the shoe without a shoe horn can weaken the back flap of the shoe.

Thanks for the report. I flew HKG-JFK in F last month, but I poked me head in to check out the new J and it looked quite nice.

On this forum you often hear generally complaints and negative comments more than positive.

However I believe this is one subject that Cathay deserves high praise on.

Their 77W is an excellent product, the business class seats are like mini first class seats, and are excellent products.

Even the Y+ is an excellent seat as well.

Overall Cathay has nailed the entire product. Well done Cathay!^

Disclaimer - I do not work for CX!

I totally agree with the hard product, which I unfortunately could only enjoy a mere two hours from SIN to BKK ... just one word: Brilliant!

(Unfourtunately crew "compensated" the brilliant hard product with a much below average service ... what a pity!)

I agree -- just flew on the new J from LAX-HKG and they were very comfortable -- after I did an F award in CX in March from ORD-HKG-ORD.

Since the LAX flight was at night, I did not care for the meal service and all that and just wanted to sleep, which worked out great since the seat was soooo comfortable.

I took the J class HKG-JFK in May. I booked the window seat (which is a single seat at 45 degree angle). Very impressed - it overcame the horrendous SQ J seats with no room to stretch your legs and width problem (too wide even for me!)
This was my first flight on CX and if they would kindly credit my miles, I would give them 10/10.

Hard to belive these are comparable to the 747 F Suites. For only ~12.5k more miles on redemptions, I'll stick to F if I can find it. Have a nice reward from US-BKK on CX with F as much as I could find it in December. Really looking forward to it.
