Wow!
I flew American in coach to South America on a 767 in economy. Now I am down flying around South America using LAN. IT is an amazing experince compared to American!!
When I board the flight attendents are spaced thoughout the cabin helpoing people get their luggage into bins. There is boarding music, we were offered chocolate, and everyone smiled.
They provided free snacks and headphones for television shows.
There is no U.S. airlines like this except maybe Virgin America which I have not flown.
The only area I could see improvement is in offering an economy plus section. The leg room is tight, but I would pay more for the economy plus. Would this work in a South American market?
Anyway great work LAN!! I would never pay the same price for American, United or Delta to South America ever again. It is too bad North American carries charged the same, but provide awful service with tired employees! I actually feel like a person wit LAN in economy.

I agree.
Thanks to BA Exec Club (pre-Avios) I got to experience LAN a couple of times. Great service and flight attendants were great.

I'm glad that you liked flying with LAN :)
LAN does have a Premium Economy (http://www.lan.com/en_us/sitio_personas/volar_en_lan/clases_de_servicio/premium_economy.html) class, but only on the Airbus 318-319-320 that have these routes:
Santiago - Buenos Aires
Santiago - Montevideo
Santiago - Sao Paulo
Santiago - Lima
Lima - Quito - Medellin
Lima - Bogota
Lima - Sao Paulo
Buenos Aires - Santiago - Quito and Guayaquil

Now go and lose your suitcase somewhere between Quito and Medellin then come back and tell us how LAN customer service compares to a North American carrier.

Yes it is wonderful! Thanks for e info? Would they ever add it on international flights to North Amercia in the near future? For me that is the only edge United has over LAN I do not see an edge with American on those 767s and I have not enjoyed Delta.
Thanks for the great service and I will continue to choose LAN!

Luckily it's hasn't happened on 11 flights in 2 weeks here. I know when one suitcase was lost on Delta it was to a nice experience with them!

That class is a replacement for business on the regional flights. Although given the expansion of a premium economy on other long haul carriers, I'm sure they are taking a look. Whether anything will come of it, who knows.

I haven't lost my bag on that route, but LAN lost my bag on Santiago arrival once and got it to my hotel in Providencia within a day. A lot quicker than when AA or UA has lost my bags.

Like others posted, LAN's "premium economy" on the 320-series narrowbodies is not at all what you are considering - it is Latin-American/European-style business class narrowbody which is basically economy with better food, in the front of the plane, with blocked middles or wider seats. Priced as business.
If you're thinking of UA E+, which is not "Premium Economy" at all in the typical international airline sense of a separate class of service, that is just regular economy in an extra legroom section. No added amenities, same booking class, just an extra cost (paid by money or FF status) legroom seat.
I doubt LAN will do that, because LAN's regular intercontinental economy seating has more legroom than UA regular economy seats, It's not as much as E+, but is more than Continental/United 31" seat pitch on crummy hard seats.
LAN's co-owned brand TAM likewise has more room than E- though less than E+, seatback AVOD like LAN (not quite as good but better than anything "real UA"). Both LAN and TAM brands of LATAM Airlines company have far better onboard service than UA whether sUA or sCO United.
I would take LAN (or TAM except for their horrible Miami gate and counter agents) over anything from United, American, or even Delta any day. In fact that's exactly what I'm doing next month, even though I'm using AA miles.

I agree! American is the worst out of this three. Their service is awful when compared to LAN. I also flew COPA in business class and thought they were just as bad as U.S. airlines and much more rude then LAN. I love LAN.

Give me a flight on LAN, a nice shiny plane, IFE and FA's that have not yet begun to fossilise. I will take that any day of the week over AA.
But outside of a plane, AA every time please rather than someone that makes pretendy rules up on the fly and has no desire whatsoever to put things right when a passenger has been wronged.

By the way, is that list complete? I have a booking on a EZE-GRU segment on a 320 that only seems to have premium economy and economy (LA 4544).
Is there something special about that flight, or is that just an oversight on the web page?

I'd guess it's most likely an oversight.

The only international routes that I'm aware of without the W cabin is to/from LBP and northern Chile, and SCL/MDZ. Perhaps there are a few others.

AA will start having "Main Cabin Extra" (4-6 inches more legroom) starting later this year. All new aircraft delivery will have this and they plan on retrofitting the existing fleet.
